Unique Day Activity In Tokyo
I had a wonderful time at this onigiri workshop! It was a fun and interactive experience from start to finish. I learned a lot about the history of onigiri, its cultural significance in Japan, and the different ways it has evolved over time. It wasn’t just about making rice balls, it was also a great opportunity to understand an important part of Japanese food culture. The workshop was well organized, and the instructions were easy to follow, even for beginners. We got to make our own onigiri, and it was very satisfying to enjoy something we had made ourselves. A special thank you to Nana, who was incredibly detailed with every explanation. She took the time to answer everyone’s questions, shared interesting stories, and made sure everyone felt comfortable throughout the workshop. Her passion and knowledge really made the experience even more enjoyable. The filling can be both vegan or Non-vegan. I highly recommend this workshop to anyone visiting Japan or anyone interested in Japanese culture and cuisine. It’s educational, fun, and a memorable hands-on experience! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your heartfelt review! We're delighted that you enjoyed learning about the history and cultural significance of onigiri while having a fun hands-on experience. Nana will be especially happy to hear your kind words. Thank you for recommending us, and we hope to welcome you again on your next visit to Japan! :)

A look into the love of onigiri and bento
This class was a wonderful insite in family recipes of Japanese culture. Learning how to make these bento and onigiri was a master class in storytelling and instruction. The host was gracious and made sure to be with us every step of the way as we created our own onigiri and bento giving us vegan and gluten-free options along the way for those of us who have dietary restrictions. I would wholly recommend this class to anyone and everyone.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words!! We're delighted that you enjoyed learning about Japanese family recipes and culture through our bento and onigiri class. It was a pleasure having you, and we're especially happy that everyone could enjoy the gluten-free food ! We hope to welcome you again in the future! :D

A Delicious Introduction to Japanese Home Cooking
If you are looking for a unique cultural experience, this class is a fantastic choice. Instead of simply following a recipe, we gained a deeper understanding of the traditions behind bento and onigiri and the role they play in everyday in Japanese life. The small-group setting made it feel personal, relaxed, and engaging through the entire two hours. One of my favorite parts was making my own onigiri and turning it into a cute design. The food was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with love. Nana’s enthusiasm for teaching and her food was contagious, and her sweet dog Hachi added an extra touch of charm. I left this experience with new skills, full stomach, and a much greater appreciation for Japanese home cooking.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your thoughtful review :) We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed not only making the food, but also learning about the traditions and everyday culture behind bento and Onigiri! Nana loves sharing these aspects of Japanese home cooking, so she will be very happy to hear your kind words! :D

Making Memories One Onigiri at a Time
This was a wonderful and authentic experience! Nana shared the history of bento and onigiri while teaching us how to make delicious gluten-free and vegan Japanese food. The class felt like learning family recipes, with a real homemade touch and so much care put into every detail. The food tasted amazing, and making cute onigiri shapes was surprisingly fun and rewarding. Nana and her team were incredibly friendly and passionate about sharing Japanese culture through food. Plus, meeting Hachi, Nana's adorable dog, made the experience even more memorable!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review :) We're so happy to hear that you enjoyed the experience with Nana. Sharing Japanese food, family recipes, and local traditions is something she truly loves, so it means a lot to know that came through during the class. We're glad you had fun making the onigiri and that the food was a hit! And of course, Hachi is always happy to make new friends. Thank you for joining us and for taking the time to share your experience :))))

Why this scores 56
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Onigiri Cooking Class in Tokyo Master Japan Rice Balls: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tokyo.
How much does Onigiri Cooking Class in Tokyo Master Japan Rice Balls cost?
+
Prices start at $21800 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tokyo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Onigiri Cooking Class in Tokyo Master Japan Rice Balls take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tokyo is not rushed.
Is Onigiri Cooking Class in Tokyo Master Japan Rice Balls worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tokyo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Onigiri Cooking Class in Tokyo Master Japan Rice Balls?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Onigiri Cooking Class in Tokyo Master Japan Rice Balls suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Onigiri Cooking Class in Tokyo Master Japan Rice Balls?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tokyo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tokyo and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Onigiri Cooking Class in Tokyo Master Japan Rice Balls start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tokyo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Tokyo?
+
Tokyo is less a city than a stack of neighborhoods with completely different opening hours. A guided food crawl through Shinjuku's Omoide Yokocho gets you past the no-tourist curtains, while the day trips west to Hakone and Fuji need an early start to be worth the fare. Our ranking weighs guide quality heavily here, because in Tokyo the guide is the product. On Outty we rank every Tokyo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tokyo Shinjuku Chopsticks Making Class, Tokyo : Asakusa Chopsticks Making Class, Shinjuku Night Food and Bar Crawl. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tokyo?
+
Late March to May for blossom, October to November for clear Fuji views. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tokyo?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
