Shaping Park used to be called "World Scenery Park" back in the day. In the late 1990s, it was packed with miniature replicas of famous landmarks from around the globe — it really opened the eyes of locals at the time. Later on, as China opened up and it became less and less of a big deal for Chongqing folks to actually travel abroad and see the real thing, the park slowly transformed into what it is now — a classic Chinese garden with lakes, hills, pavilions, and bridges. It's witnessed the city's growth and holds memories for generations of locals. This is a park you won't find recommended by any travel blogger overseas. I'd love to just sit here with you, like old friends, sipping tea and chatting about this city's past and future.

For dinner, we will enjoy an authentic Chongqing hotpot together in the most traditional way. Unlike the hotpot places in tourist areas, this restaurant is extremely authentic and reasonably priced. It has been in business for over thirty years and still draws a steady stream of customers every day. There are almost no out-of-town tourists—only locals know about it. The ingredients are fresh and varied, and the broth is numbing and spicy without causing any digestive discomfort. I really want to recommend this place to international travelers!
