Exceptional Day Tour

Fantastic day tour. Our guide was so knowledgeable and looked after us so well. I think her name was Kana. We had plenty of time in each place and lunch was amazing. It was a very small group so the bus was able to park close to the main area. Highly recommend this tour.

We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the tour, including the beautiful destinations, the delicious lunch, and the comfortable amount of time at each location. We are also pleased to know that the convenient bus access helped make your visit more comfortable and enjoyable. Thank you again for highly recommending our tour. We truly appreciate your kind words and are so happy to know that you had such a memorable experience with us. We wish you many more wonderful memories from your travels in Japan!

100% recommend

The day was wonderfully organized. Our guide and driver were knowledgeable and caring. Lunch was delicious! Would definitely go on the same tour again in a different season.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for giving us a perfect rating! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your day exploring Shirakawa-go and Takayama, and that our guide and driver helped make your experience enjoyable and comfortable. We’re also very happy to know that you enjoyed the lunch! As you mentioned, both Shirakawa-go and Takayama have a different charm in every season. In particular, we highly recommend visiting Shirakawa-go in winter, when the traditional gassho-style houses are beautifully covered in snow and create a truly magical atmosphere. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again in a different season on your next visit to Japan. Thank you once again for choosing our tour!

Wonderfully run tour of a unique town

The tour was perfectly organised and efficient and our guides and driver were excellent. Going to Shirakawa-go was a unique tourist experience. We loved the Kanda house- beautifully maintained with informative signage and displays. The village was gorgeous. Lunch there was traditional and very good. The downside was the village felt fairly crowded. Still worth seeing. The brief stop in Takayama was nice but not as enjoyable. I would have liked to stay in Takayama rather than just have a brief stop. Overall, it was a good experience but maybe one I would recommend only if you have a longish stay in Kanazawa. I would have preferred to use the extra day in Kanazawa.

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for joining our Shirakawa-go & Takayama Tour and for taking the time to share your valuable feedback. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the beautiful scenery of Shirakawa-go, your visit to the Kanda House, the traditional lunch, and that you were satisfied with the overall organization of the tour. We also truly appreciate your kind words about our guide and driver. Depending on the season and time of day, Shirakawa-go can become quite crowded. In particular, during lunchtime, visitors may sometimes need to wait in long lines at restaurants. Since lunch is included in our tour, we aim to make your visit more efficient by allowing you to enjoy your time exploring Shirakawa-go without having to worry about finding a place to eat or waiting for a table. We are pleased to know that you were able to enjoy your time there despite the crowds. We also appreciate your valuable feedback regarding the time spent in Takayama. Our tour is designed to allow guests to experience both Shirakawa-go and Takayama, two destinations with different charms, within one day. However, we understand that some guests may prefer more time to explore Takayama at a relaxed pace, and we will take your comments into consideration for future tour planning. Thank you again for choosing our tour.

Tour guide was...

Tour guide was inconsiderate and rude. I traveled with my 80 year old parents. Asked for front or near front seats since they can't move TOour guide She was difficult and rude Other than that trip was great

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the tour overall. However, we are truly sorry to learn that you felt our tour guide was inconsiderate and rude. If our guide's attitude came across as unfriendly or intimidating, we sincerely apologize for the unpleasant experience. We also understand your concern regarding the seating arrangement. We checked your reservation and found that we had not received a request for front or forward seating before the tour. As seat requests can be made either at the time of booking or by contacting us before the tour, we would have done our best to accommodate your parents' needs had we been informed in advance. While we cannot guarantee specific seats due to operational reasons, we always try to assist guests whenever possible. We truly appreciate your valuable feedback, which we will share with our team to help improve both our customer service and guiding experience. Thank you again for traveling with us, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future.

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 82 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 152 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kanazawa, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

+

Around 53 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kanazawa and add a light layer if any part of the 9.3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

+

On Outty we rank every Kanazawa experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include World Heritage Shirakawa-go and Experience Tours from Kanazawa, World Heritage Shirakawa-go Perfect Guided Tour from Kanazawa, Kanazawa: Castle & Samurai History Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kanazawa?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kanazawa?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
