Bizarre and a bit unsettling!

This market is crowded around a working mosque with narrow streets where cars and buses force their way through - watch your feet! You need haggle hard to get a good bargain and the sellers are way too persistent when you say La, La (no) - even with a stern face! Did not say you will come back to a shop - they will come looking for you! It is a great though and there are some cafes for drinks.

Shopping tour to milk tourists

This tour is pretty useless unless you know where exactly you want to be. We went to the bazaar for less than 10 minutes then he asked where we wanted to go or what we wanted to buy. I told him that we wanted the tour we had booked. We don’t know the city and wanted him to show us around and show us the area. The driver and tour guide seemed to just think of random things to do instead of having a planned tour. He then took us around to different shops where we were pressured to buy stuff we didn’t want. If we didn’t buy something they asked why and kept asking us to look at more stuff even when I kept saying I wasn’t interested. At one shop we were sitting around bored so went to a papyrus shop that was close and he got annoyed and asked us why we went there. I told him we were looking because we were bored and we didn’t want any papyrus anyway. He then took us to another papyrus shop which we also left and went to an oil shop close by. He was fast to follow us and tell the guy there that he had taken us to this shop and wanted his cut from what we bought I wanted to see the mosque- he didn’t even know it was closed until we went there. He suggested henna, a boat trip and a museum which I said yes to but the whole day was wasted on shopping that we didn’t want and we didn’t make it to any of those things but he bought me a henna hair dye to do my own henna at the end of the day after asking for his tip. Complete waste of a day. From about an hour into this tour we were trying to find a nice way to ditch the pair of them. Please stay away from this tour.

Great Overview of Cairo!

My friend and I had a wonderful time on our private tour with our friendly and very knowledgable guide, Dhalia. We visited the Khan El Khalili bazaar, did some shopping and took in the magical sights of Old Cairo. We also visited Coptic Cairo and explored inside the many beautiful churches there. For lunch we had Koshary at the best Koshary spot in the area. It was so delicious! Thank you Dhalia, for a truly great day!

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 49 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cairo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Old Cairo and Khan El Khalili bazaar?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cairo can sell out a month out. What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cairo and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Cairo?

+

On Outty we rank every Cairo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include All-in-One Giza Tour, inside Pyramid, sphinx, Camel ride & lunch, VIP Private Giza Pyramids, Sphinx Tour –Inside the Pyramids&More, Best of Cairo Private Giza Pyramids, Sphinx and Grand Museum Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cairo?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cairo?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
