About this experience
This Introduction to Oil Painting workshop is all you need to get started on your artistic journey. You will learn how to paint and also how to appreciate the art you see in a new way. Girl with a Pearl Earring is Vermeer’s most famous painting. Johannes Vermeer was the master of light. We have chosen Vermeer's classic painting of The Girl with the Pearl Earring because it is familiar to many and because it has great examples of all of the principles we teach in this intro class including -a variety of colours - Chiaroscuro (the Italian term for extreme light and dark contrast) -a full range of flesh tones ... we teach an easy method for mixing skin tones! -a variety of edges including hard, soft and lost edges and we will teach you to recognise and execute these all easily This short workshop is fun for everyone and great for beginners.

A must do in Florence
The class was even better than expected. The instructor takes time to introduce the techniques and make sure you understand before starting. Then you get to paint, which was so much fun. The studio is beautiful, very welcoming, and in a great location. Overall, a wonderful experience that I would highly recommend. (Great for beginners)
Response from the operator: It was lovely to have you with us Marian! Happy painting! Laura

Amazing opportunity!
Wow. This is one of the best experiences we have had in Florence. Laura is a fabulous artist and she shares her craft so beautifully. I’ve always wanted to explore painting, but have been intimidated by the tools, the paints, and just “where do I begin.” Laura starts with all of the basics, and presents them in such a lovely and relatable way. By the time we put brush to canvas, I felt confident in myself. It was a joyous feeling. I wish I could spend hours each day learning with Laura! Her studio is simply magnificent. Her paintings are inspiring, and her husband is a sculptor - his works are stunning. Their sweet pet rabbit, Leo, is a delightful addition to the marvelous environment we learned and painted in. I recommend this activity with all my heart. Judy and Tim
Response from the operator: Thanks Judy and Tim! It was an absolute pleasure to teach you both. Keep painting! I look forward to seeing your future work. Hope to see you again! Laura and Frank (and Leo)

Learned so much and had a great time!
If you have ANY interest in painting, then this class is a MUST! I learned more in 3 hours than I have in several years of art classes. Laura knows what she is talking about and makes it easy and fun to learn. I want to go back to Florence just to take more classes with her! Frank was very kind and Leo the bunny was an adorable bonus!
Response from the operator: We had such fun -and we hope to see you back in Florence again soon! Happy painting in the meantime! Laura and Frank and Leo(the bunny!)

Unique and great place to dive into the world of oil painting
A very great and friendly atmosphere with a great teacher, who explained everything very well and also helped if questions or difficulties arose! And the studio really has charm with the many paintings, portraits and sculptures!!! In addition, a friendly black rabbit also hops through the studio!!!
Response from the operator: We enjoyed having you at the studio!

Why this scores 52
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Oil Painting Class in Florence: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Florence.
How much does Oil Painting Class in Florence cost?
+
Prices start at $225 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Florence usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Oil Painting Class in Florence take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Florence is not rushed.
Is Oil Painting Class in Florence worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Florence, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Oil Painting Class in Florence?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Oil Painting Class in Florence suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Oil Painting Class in Florence?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Florence can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Florence and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Oil Painting Class in Florence start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Florence within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Florence?
+
On Outty we rank every Florence experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Best tour in Florence: Renaissance & Medici Tales - guided by a STORYTELLER, Florence Pizza or Pasta Class & Gelato Making at a Tuscan Farm, Small group Tuscan Wineries, Olive Oil & Gourmet Lunch or Dinner. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Florence?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Florence?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
