Great tour + delicious food
This food tour was great! Josmar, the guide, was not only knowledgeable of the food, but also the history to the city, the region, and the architecture. We partook of all kinds of Oaxacan food, both savory and sweet. We left the tour completely full. Thank you for a great experience, The Lost Taco Food Tours.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re so happy to hear you enjoyed exploring Oaxaca through its food, history, and architecture with Josmar. It’s great to know you got to experience such a delicious variety of authentic Oaxacan cuisine!

Great experience
Great tour! Eddy was an amazing, funny and helpful guide. He asked before starting if you wanna try something specific or not. Just one thing: the ammount of the different dishes was sometimes to much (espacially if you're not used to some of the food). I would totally recommend doing it. You'll learn a lot!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re so happy you enjoyed the Oaxaca food tour with Eddy and discovered so many new flavors and dishes. We truly appreciate your recommendation!

Show up hungry!
We ended up on a private food tour and let me say this was the most amazing food experience ever! Not only were my food restrictions respected, our guide went completely out of his way and gave us a personalized tour based on what we enjoy eating and wanting to try. Every stop, we had options to select like the type of flavor and meat. Zero language barrier and even learned about the food culture. We started with one plan and we ended up with something way better! And yes we tried the grasshoppers and it tasted delicious. Went to multiple markets and even did a pit stop to pick up snacks. I honestly think this is the best deal I'm town. Not only were we fed for the price of a nice sit down meal, we ended up with a tour of the area and met great local food owners. We literally sat with the locals on shared benches and counters. Absolutely would do it again. We are beyond stuffed! Definitely go hungry.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this amazing review! We’re so happy you enjoyed your tour and that we could personalize the experience around your food preferences and restrictions. It was a pleasure sharing Oaxaca’s local markets, authentic Mexican food, and food culture with you!

Why this scores 77
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Oaxaca Hidden Street Food Tour Led by Local food experts: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Oaxaca City.
How much does Oaxaca Hidden Street Food Tour Led by Local food experts cost?
+
Prices start at $64 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Oaxaca City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Oaxaca Hidden Street Food Tour Led by Local food experts take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Oaxaca City is not rushed.
Is Oaxaca Hidden Street Food Tour Led by Local food experts worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 77 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 23 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Oaxaca City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Oaxaca Hidden Street Food Tour Led by Local food experts?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Oaxaca Hidden Street Food Tour Led by Local food experts suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Oaxaca Hidden Street Food Tour Led by Local food experts?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Oaxaca City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Oaxaca City and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Oaxaca Hidden Street Food Tour Led by Local food experts start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Oaxaca City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Oaxaca City?
+
On Outty we rank every Oaxaca City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include AUTHENTIC OAXACA CULTURAL FOOD TOUR, eat like a local., Hierve el Agua 2.5 hours, Mitla, Tule, Rugs and Mezcal for a Day, Traditional Oaxaqueña Cooking with Grandma's Recipes. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Oaxaca City?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Oaxaca City?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
