Best Ever Northern Lights Tour
You can’t find a better tour guide. He is exceptional. His knowledge of the area is second to none! “T” is the best!
Response from the operator: Hi Ernie, thank you so much for the lovely feedback. We had a fantastic trip together, and yes, we got to see the Northern Lights several times. We also enjoyed some hot drinks and something good to eat. If you come back to Tromsø, feel free to get in touch with us again. Please say hello to Sally from us. Kind regards, Siv and Trygve (Mr. T)

Great experience with a local guide who does everything he can to let you see the northern lights and make you happy :-)
Due to the deteriorating weather, Trygve contacted us to see if we could leave earlier than planned. We left two hours earlier, but that didn't yield the desired result: witnessing one of nature's most extraordinary phenomena, the Northern Lights. We spent an hour at his base camp, where we were treated to delicious snacks and drinks. We enjoyed the silence while the clouds above us largely obscured our view. The experienced guide decided to drive with us for a while, looking for a spot with a clear sky. Along the way, we glimpsed the Northern Lights, and he asked if we were tired. We told him we were fit enough, and then we drove to the Finnish border. He spotted a bit of green among the clouds, which turned out to be a harbinger of something we could only dream of. The heavens cleared, and we had the most fantastic Northern Lights experience. Trygve has proven to be a true Aurora hunter, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The return trip was long, but the adrenaline rush allowed us to reminisce and discuss our sightings for a long time. No one can guarantee seeing the Northern Lights, but Trygve really goes the extra mile to treat its guests to the Aurora Borealis.
Response from the operator: Hi Karel, thank you so much for the nice feedback. We had an exciting and challenging trip. The big question was whether we would see the Northern Lights tonight. We had to chase the aurora for quite a while. When we made a short stop on the way toward Finland and stepped out of the bus, we suddenly saw the magical Northern Lights across the entire sky. It was a truly magical experience we shared together. Now you’ve been to Finland as well. Thank you both for a wonderful trip. Kind regards, Trygve

Not only northern lights
Trygve was great and very generous. He made the experience something extra. And of course the northern lights were amazing.
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for the nice feedback. We had a great trip together, and it was very nice talking with you. We also got to see the Northern Lights. Welcome back to Tromsø — feel free to contact us if you have any questions, and we will help you as best we can. Kind regards, Trygve and family.

Best northern light hunting tour you could ask for
This tour is worth very cent! Our guides were a lovely local couple who picked our small group up in Tromso city then went on a 1 hour minivan drive where we stopped anytime the Aurora came out. We visited their rural property for more Aurora photos then we went to their boathouse on the water for better Aurora spotting. There we warmed up with a both inside and outside campfire and got fed endless Norwegian snacks and drinks. They took stunning photos of each person every time the Aurora came out. At the end we were all warm happy and full. Would highly recommend - best Aurora hunting tour you could do in Tromso!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this incredibly kind and thoughtful review! Reading it truly means the world to us. We are so happy to hear that you felt the tour was worth every cent and that the whole experience left you feeling warm, happy, and full. That is exactly the feeling we hope every guest goes home with. Hosting you at the boathouse is very special to us, and knowing you enjoyed those moments, the atmosphere, and the photos we captured makes us genuinely grateful. Thank you for recommending us so warmly. We hope the photos and memories stay with you for a lifetime, and you are always welcome back to Tromsø anytime! Kind regards Trygve

Beautiful intimate excursion
A magical and memorable New Year’s Eve spent with Tromso Travel - we were picked up in the city with a warm welcome and then drove to their private camp where the northern lights made a beautiful appearance in the unspoiled wilderness. Avoiding the bigger crowds and roadside camps we were on in our own private wilderness. It was a small group, everyone was super friendly and we had some nice hot drinks, a fire and snacks including toasting marshmallows. We stopped along the way back to see more northern lights spots and then drove above the city to watch the spectacular NYE fireworks in Tromso. We will be back again, loved every minute of this trip and experiencing it with a local guide and small group was perfect for us.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share this wonderful review. We are truly grateful that you chose to spend such a meaningful New Year’s Eve with us. It means a lot to hear that you enjoyed the peaceful setting of our private camp.Creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere with a small group, hot drinks, a fire, and simple shared moments is exactly what we hope for, and we are happy it came across. We are also glad you could experience the Northern Lights along the way and end the night above Tromsø with the New Year’s fireworks. That combination makes the evening extra special, and it is lovely to know it became a memorable part of your trip. Thank you for your kind words and for appreciating the local and personal approach. We would be very happy to welcome you back again in the future. Kind regards Trygve

How much does Northern Lights Tour, Tromso, Local Guide, Private Basecamp cost?

How long does Northern Lights Tour, Tromso, Local Guide, Private Basecamp take?

Is Northern Lights Tour, Tromso, Local Guide, Private Basecamp worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tromso, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Northern Lights Tour, Tromso, Local Guide, Private Basecamp?
+

Is Northern Lights Tour, Tromso, Local Guide, Private Basecamp suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Northern Lights Tour, Tromso, Local Guide, Private Basecamp?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tromso can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tromso and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Tromso?
+
On Outty we rank every Tromso experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Northern Lights Minibus Chase from Tromsø with Chasing Lights, Northern Lights Big Bus Chase with Chasing Lights, Tromsø Northern Lights Chase We Go Where The Lights Appear. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tromso?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tromso?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
