About this experience
Go out and see the stars and (hopefully) the Northern Lights. We offer a off-road vehicle to get to the places we need to in order to hunt down the Northern Lights effectively. We only employ guides with many years of experience in both hunting the lights and capturing pictures. The guide will capture your picture with the Northern Lights and they will be emailed to you the day after. We offer hot chocolate and treats to keep you warm during the winter nights which can often involve waiting around for the magic to happen. We can not guarantee that you will see the Aurora because of the unpredictable nature of the phenomenon. The tour is operated out of Reykjavík and we will go up to 2 hours away from the capital depending on where the lights are expected to show themselves.

What you'll see and do
Reykjavik
Hunt the Northern Lights departing from Reykjavík. The Aroura Borealis, sometimes called the Northern Lights, is a phenomenon that appears in the sky when certain conditions are met. The Aroura Borealis is a plasmic reaction of gasses that Ionize when charged particles coming in from the sun ram into the atmosphere. The Aurora is a magnificent display of physics at the interstellar level visible to the naked eye. Myths and legends surrounding this phenomenon can be found in many religions, cultures, and folktales about magic, the afterlife, the beginning of life, gods of prosperity, and war. Seeing this phenomenon is on many travelers' bucket lists and we certainly try our hardest every time to make sure their dreams come true.

Dancing lights
Had a wonderful tour. Our guide Kobe took us down on the coast and we were able to see the lights about an hour in. It was very windy and cold so dressing warmly was a must. He offered refreshments halfway through, the cream buns were delicious.

Golden Circle
What a blast! Kolbeinn took three friends and myself on an amazing tour of the Golden Circle. He was SO knowledgeable! Not to mention an all around fun guy! He was flexible and catered to our wants and needs. The lunch at Frioheimar was a high light! Not to mention delicious!! If you have the chance, I highly recommend a private tour with Artic Out!!

Why this scores 56
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Northern Lights In luxury off-road SUV with Photos and Treats: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.
How much does Northern Lights In luxury off-road SUV with Photos and Treats cost?
+
Prices start at $1520 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Northern Lights In luxury off-road SUV with Photos and Treats take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.
Is Northern Lights In luxury off-road SUV with Photos and Treats worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Northern Lights In luxury off-road SUV with Photos and Treats?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Northern Lights In luxury off-road SUV with Photos and Treats suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Northern Lights In luxury off-road SUV with Photos and Treats?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Northern Lights In luxury off-road SUV with Photos and Treats start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?
+
On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Reykjavik?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
