The House of the Virgin Mary
Our first stop is the House of Virgin Mary. The House of Virgin Mary is located on the Aladag Mountains 5 miles away from Ephesus. At the third Ecumenical Council on 431 AD in Ephesus, it was claimed that Mary came to Ephesus with St. John in 37 A.D. and lived there until her death in 48 A.D. After the discovery of the house, the Archbishop of Izmir declared there as a place of pilgrimage in 1892. On July 26, 1967, Pope Paul VI visited this place and prayed there

Our second stop is Ephesus Ancient City. We will start visiting one of the main highlights in Turkey, Ephesus, one of the 12 cities of Ionian League (an ancient Greek district on the western coast of Asia Minor) is located near Izmir. As a port city it was a major departure point for trade routes into Asia Minor. Walk through history along marble streets lined with wonderful public buildings, among them the Baths of Scholastica, the Library of Celsus; it was built in the beginning of the 2nd century A.D. by Gaius Julius Aquila to be a memorial to his father Gaius Julius Celsus Polemanus, the proconsul of Province of Asia. , the Temple of Hadrian and The Grand Theater are two of the most impressive buildings in Ephesus. Grand theatre was built in 3rd century B.C and it was later expanded to 24.000 spectators by the Romans in the 1st century A.D.

Terrace Houses is included in 2 ( Private with Terrace Houses and with Small group with Terrace Houses ) Options only. Not included in other 2 without Terrace Houses options Terrace Houses is located on skirt of Pion Mountain. There are 6 residential units which were built on three man-made terraces. These houses were settled by wealty citizens of Ephesus. These houses were very fancy decorated with wall frescoes and floor mosaics. There are many steps to ascend from bottom to top. Attention Not recommended for people who has walking difficulties and acro-phobia (fear of heights).

Outstanding tour with Füsun
We had a private tour with Füsun today through Ephesus Shutle. She is a very knowledgeable tour guide and very personable. She treated our family like we were part of hers. The tour was scheduled on time and we visited all the sites we planned. I was especially surprised by the cultural stops along the tour. The carpet weaving and pottery/tile artisan shops were quite impressive. I would highly recommend this tour through shuttle and recommend Füsun as the tour guide.

Ephesus Shuttle private and small group tours
Füsun was absolutely amazing! We had a private tour where we started at the House of Mary, which was an emotional experience for me. She was so knowledgeable about ancient Ephesus and biblical history. We had a beautiful lunch and had time to learn about Turkish culture and rug making. We toured the ruins of ancient Ephesus where Fusun guided us through with lots of photo stops along the way. She was happy to take our pictures and helped us make some beautiful family memories. We went to St. John’s basilica to learn about more history and stopped at a local artisan pottery business. Our final stop was at Artemis temple ruins. I can’t thank Fusun enough for giving us such a wonderful family adventure. I would highly recommend taking a tour with Fusun if you are planning a trip to Ephesus! VIP treatment and five stars all around!!!!

Wonderful tour of Ephesus with Füsun through Ephesus Shuttle
Had a wonderful time with Füsun as our guide on this tour. It was excellent to get a taste for the local history and character of the area, and she was extremely knowledgeable regarding the key sites we visited, while always being very warm and hospitable. I would happily recommend this experience to anyone who I personally know would want to explore this part of coastal Turkey.
