Great Experiance and a Nice Night Out

Amazing experience. The purification ceremony was unlike any other experience I have had before. The swim in the cenote following the ceremony was nice and gave us time to bond with others in the tour group. Dinner was delicious and I felt welcomed in the village.

    Reservation Cancelled

The operator cancelled my booking a day after accepting payment. I was offered a refund, which wasn’t what I wanted, but was better than nothing. The operator’s communication implied that the fault was mine (“Because the booking was made at the last moment…), which may mean that they have no plans to change their system to avoid accepting payment for a trip they can’t provide. The operator had trips available the next two days but would not provide these at the same price as they were private tours. I still recommend the trip but maybe try another operator if you want a sure thing.

Response from the operator: Dear Christina! Thank you very much for your feedback. These 2 stars do unfortunately affect our rating, but we would like to clarify that you did not actually take our tour, and therefore cannot evaluate the experience itself. You made the reservation late at night for the following day, when our office was already closed. Early in the morning, as soon as we checked availability, we immediately informed you that, unfortunately, there were no seats left from Cancun. We also offered to move your booking to Saturday (as clearly stated during the booking process, our shared group tour operates only on Wednesdays and Saturdays; on other days it is available only as a private tour, since the Mayan community does not accept large groups daily). Alternatively, we offered a full refund. You told us that you would no longer be here on Saturday and preferred a refund. We processed the cancellation with a full refund right away. Later, you requested a private tour on a day convenient for you at the same price as the shared group tour. Unfortunately, we cannot offer a private tour at the group rate, especially since your refund had already been processed at that point. We always aim for transparent communication and do our best to accommodate last-minute bookings whenever possible, but in this case availability simply was not there. Thank you again for your understanding. Best regards, Olga Sakhrannaia The OlMar Travel Mexico Team

    Terrible Service

No communication on where to pick up. No response when calling number provided. No help. Don’t book. Terrible experience. Didn’t even get to go. They sent one message to say pick up time but not where to go, or what van/car to look out for when being picked up. You can’t reach anyone. They just take your money with ZERO communication.

Response from the operator: Dear Monet, We’re sorry for the misunderstanding, but our guide was at the meeting point on time and spent over 10 minutes looking for you both inside and outside the lobby — we also have photo evidence confirming this. The phone numbers for voice calls are clearly listed on your voucher. You tried to contact us through WhatsApp calls, but as mentioned in the confirmation message, we only receive text messages on WhatsApp. Unfortunately, we didn’t receive any regular phone calls from you. Even though you didn’t show up, we still issued a 100% refund as a gesture of goodwill. We always aim for clear communication and excellent service for all our guests. Kind regards, OlMar Travel Mexico

This is one of the best most amazing underrated experiences I had during my stay in Tulum. If I'm being honest, I was quite skeptical due to some of the reviews but I'm glad I followed through with doing it. To start, our pick up was super easy as our meeting point was the Super Aki in Tulum town. Colin was so great at explaining what a Temazcal is and gave us such a great breakdown of what to expect. We picked up 3 other people and made our way to the Mayan village of Dos Palmas. The Mayan people there were so friendly and welcoming. There were other tours separate from ours that were there also. In total, there was about 30-40 participants. The shaman allowed time for the guides to translate what was happening during the whole process. Once inside the temazcal structure, the guides/shaman made sure to let us know if we werent feeling well and needed to exit, the process in doing that. They explainined it multiple times. It was such a beautiful and healing experience to say the least. You WILL sweat and it WILL get hot. It is all about breath work and staying calm and just focusing on whatever intention or relase you have intended for the experience. The cenote swin after was so nice and refreshing and a nice contrast of the hot steamy Temazcal. The dinner prepared by the Mayan women was very delicious. The locals do have a small shop of items that are handmade souvenirs so i'd recommend bringing money if you'd like to buy it from the locals.

    Magical

Beautiful location in hotel with beautiful people who were kind and very helpful through our first time going to a Temezcal. I would go back again and again I would also stay in that hotel. All of their healing amenities were wonderful although we stayed at a beautiful hotel nearby. We still enjoyed both.

Night Mayan Temazcal Purification Ceremony: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cancun.

How much does Night Mayan Temazcal Purification Ceremony cost?

    +

Prices start at $137 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cancun usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Night Mayan Temazcal Purification Ceremony take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cancun is not rushed.

Is Night Mayan Temazcal Purification Ceremony worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 38 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Cancun, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Night Mayan Temazcal Purification Ceremony?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Night Mayan Temazcal Purification Ceremony suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Night Mayan Temazcal Purification Ceremony?

    +

Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cancun can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cancun and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Night Mayan Temazcal Purification Ceremony start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cancun within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cancun?

    +

On Outty we rank every Cancun experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Early Access to Chichen Itza All Inclusive with Valladolid and Cenote Swim, Whale Shark Tour from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Riviera Maya, Small-Group 3 Hidden Cenotes Adventure with Tequila Tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cancun?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cancun?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
