Newport RI
The tour guide was amazing & very knowledgeable and accommodating. The food was good but we expected more seafood. We think of RI as a seaport which is a lot of seafood. But all in all great!
Response from the operator: Thank you!

Great place to start
We had a large group of 16 for the walking food tour. Our guide Angel was knowledgeable and funny. We went to about 5 or 6 restaurants which offered the right amount of food. I left feeling like I had eaten but not feeling uncomfortably full. We got the drinks package as well which was fun. Our group was fun and cohesive, with everyone following the rules and respectful of the speakers. The food was a good variety. We like to do a food tour in a new city to get the lay of the land, and insider information.
Response from the operator: Thank you

Lovely, and delicious, truly local food tour
What a lovely way to spend the midday. Our tour guide, Tom, has a long personal history in and clear love for Newport. Even so, in building this tour, he worked with a historian to provide larger context for the space. It never felt like a lecture, though, but rather an old friend sharing stories. And of course the food choices were A+. Starting with Rhode Island clam chowder, and understanding how it differs (just a little) from the New England style, each bite was delicious. The local spots were proud to show off their food and happy to give Tom a hearty handshake and all of us on the tour a very warm welcome to their hometown. What a terrific way to kick off my first time visiting Newport.
Response from the operator: Kat, thank you very much, it was my pleasure to show off our little City by the Sea. Best regards, Tom

Wonderful introduction to Newport
Our guide, Susan was very personable and knowledgeable. We visited a variety of locations and restaurants. Be prepared for full meals at each stop!
Response from the operator: Thank you, it was a pleasure meeting you. Best regards, Susan

Worth the effort
The tour took an entire 3 hours. The guide was pleasant and knowledgeable. Food was great. The weather was the only thing to put a damper on it.
Response from the operator: Thank you, and thank you for weathering the rain with us! Best regards, Tom and Susan

Why this scores 76
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Newport Walking Food And History Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Newport.
How much does Newport Walking Food And History Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $123 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Newport usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Newport Walking Food And History Tour take?
+
Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Newport is not rushed.
Is Newport Walking Food And History Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 76 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 395 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Newport, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Newport Walking Food And History Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Newport Walking Food And History Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Newport Walking Food And History Tour?
+
Around 138 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Newport can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Newport and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Newport Walking Food And History Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Newport within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Newport?
+
Newport sells mansion tours along Bellevue Avenue, Cliff Walk history, schooner and sunset sails on Narragansett Bay, and food walks through the colonial waterfront. On Outty we rank every Newport experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Newport Gilded Age Mansions Trolley Tour w/ Breakers Ticket (8+), Newport Trolley Tour with Breakers Mansion - Viking Tours, Afternoon Grand Tour | Gansett Cruises in Newport, RI. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Newport?
+
May to October, with sailing at its best in July and August. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Newport?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
