Digging into the past didn’t turn up skeletons and scandals for brothers Andy and Charlie Nelson; more like sour mash and stills. After discovering their triple great grandfather was one of the most successful whiskey distillers in pre-prohibition America, the brothers vowed to revive the since-forgotten family business. If you’re into sunken ships and lost gold, a woman running a distillery before women could vote and the rebirth of a Nashville business after 100 years, you’ll be sucked into this story. Sample gold medal award-winning Nelson’s Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey, the spirit based on the wheated mash bill recipe for Tennessee’s oldest whiskey and mellowed in a sugar maple charcoal bed. Taste the perfected blends of two, modern-day, straight bourbon whiskeys crafted by the Nelson Brothers, and finish your tasting with strong and sweet Louisa’s coffee caramel pecan liqueur.

Tennessee Whiskey, Sweet as strawberry wine!
Really good history and interesting tour followed by some amazing whiskey. Just watch your baggage allowance when going home. Not available in the UK and we have already drunk our bottles…

Unique inspiring legacy, quality product
So inspired by the Nelson story and loved that this was the original oldest whiskey in the state! And woman led before prohibition! Jacob was an awesome guide and storyteller! I don’t even like whiskey but went with my family and found the original really to my liking along with the liqueur!

Tour
First ever tour of a distillery and it did not disappoint. Mainly due to the wonderful and knowledgeable staff. Out guide Sophia was excellent and very funny. Would recommend this for sure.

Really great tour!
I was very pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the tour. Our guide Darrin was informative and entertaining at the same time. The distillery has a really interesting history, and that alone made me appreciate the product. The tasting was really fun. Darrin taught us the proper way to drink whiskey. I’ve never been a big whiskey person, but I’ll def use my new skills to give it a go more often. The 4 we sampled were really good and all very different which was not something I knew was a thing. I thought whiskey was whiskey. Pro-tip - book the 3pm tour or earlier because the bar’s last call for cocktails is at 5pm. We did the 4om tour so when it finished at 5pm I didn’t get a chance to try the espresso martini that I’ve heard a lot about. You can still order whiskey until 6pm though. PS - the restaurant looks fun. I’d def go back to try that (and an espresso martini)!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! You'll definitely have to come back for the Espresso Martini, it's one of our faves! We love hearing that Darrin made your trip special, we'll be sure to pass on your kind words. Come back and see us soon. Cheers!

Why this scores 85
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Nelson's Green Brier Distillery Guided Tour with Tastings: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Nashville.
How much does Nelson's Green Brier Distillery Guided Tour with Tastings cost?
+
Prices start at $25 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Nashville usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Nelson's Green Brier Distillery Guided Tour with Tastings take?
+
Plan for about 0.8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Nashville is not rushed.
Is Nelson's Green Brier Distillery Guided Tour with Tastings worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 85 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 316 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Nashville, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Nelson's Green Brier Distillery Guided Tour with Tastings?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Nelson's Green Brier Distillery Guided Tour with Tastings suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 0.8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Nelson's Green Brier Distillery Guided Tour with Tastings?
+
Around 111 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Nashville can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Nashville and add a light layer if any part of the 0.8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Nelson's Green Brier Distillery Guided Tour with Tastings start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Nashville within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Nashville?
+
Nashville's activity mix is unusually music-heavy: Ryman and Opry backstage tours, RCA Studio B sessions, songwriter rounds and honky-tonk crawls on Broadway. Around that sit distillery runs to Lynchburg and general-admission pedal taverns. Outty Ranking penalises the crawl operators that oversell group size, which is the most common complaint in this city. On Outty we rank every Nashville experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Nashville: Authentic Food Tour with 5 Tastings of Local Dishes, Nashville's Wildest Honky Tonk Public Party Bus (21+), Nashville RCA Studio B & Country Music Hall of Fame Ticket Combo. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Nashville?
+
April to May and September to October, when patios open and the humidity drops. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Nashville?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
