    2. Nafplio

Our next destination is the charming seaside town of Nafplio — also known by its historic name, Napoli di Romania — considered one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in Greece. Once the first capital of the modern Greek state, Nafplio is filled with neoclassical buildings, narrow cobblestone alleys, and elegant Venetian influences. As we stroll through its picturesque streets, we’ll take in the grandeur of the Palamidi Fortress perched high above the town, the iconic Bourtzi Castle rising from the middle of the harbor, and the beautiful Cathedral of Saint George, an important landmark of the old town. After our guided walk, you’ll have some free time to explore at your own pace — perhaps to enjoy a coffee by the sea, browse the local boutiques, or simply soak in the relaxed atmosphere of this captivating town.

    3. Citadel and Treasury of Atreus

Next, we continue our journey to the ancient citadel of Mycenae, the heart of one of the earliest and most legendary civilizations in the world. Revered for its connection to the epic tales of the Trojan War, Mycenae is said to be the kingdom of the mighty King Agamemnon — the leader of the Greek forces who sailed to Troy to reclaim the beautiful Helen. As we explore this remarkable archaeological site, we’ll pass through the iconic Lion’s Gate, the imposing entrance to the ancient city, and marvel at the massive Cyclopean Walls, whose enormous stones have stood for millennia. We’ll also visit the Treasury of Atreus (also known as the Tomb of Agamemnon), an extraordinary beehive-shaped tomb built for a Mycenaean king. After our guided visit, we’ll take a relaxing lunch break in Mycenae, giving you a chance to enjoy a meal surrounded by the echoes of ancient history.

    Disappointing guide

The main problem with this tour was that the guide spoke very poor English. She gave a commentary in both French and English but was very difficult to understand which was disappointing as we were interested to hear about the history etc. Also the departure from the Amalia hotel was very disorganised and slow. However the sites themselves and the journey through the mountains was lovely. Like many people, we opted not to take the lunch option but to spend time in Napflio instead and that was a good choice.

SAVE YOUR MONEY...DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

This was the WORST tour ever!!! At pickup point, tour guy showed up & put me in a taxi, told me it was paid for to bus location. NO, I paid 10 euros, complained at bus & refunded. Tour guide spoke unclear English and French. Spoke back and forward between languages, hard to tell which she was speaking throughout WHOLE tour. NEVER asked if we had any questions! She ran off the bus at each stop, leaving us run to catch up with her. She was arrogant and demeaning, talking to us as if we were idiots. Several other people voiced complaints to me about her out of her hearing range. At the restaurant, she shamefully called out the four persons’ names who did not pay extra for lunch meal and made sure we raised our hand. No where to go if not eating their lunch. Bus was locked. Residential area. Sat on curb and waited! At dropout point, stopped in most left-hand lane of a three-lane busy street and left me to cross in front of traffic. This was NOT in front of my pick-up point. Dangerous to clients! Unpleasant tour guide! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on this company! I will tell everyone I know about this experience.

    Beautiful country

The theatre at Epidarius is outstanding. The bus rides were long. The guide was distant and not very friendly. Time at the sites was limited.

    Excellent Guide and Trip

This was an absolutely excellent tour. Our guide was outstanding. She shared her vast knowledge with us, kept us on track, and made it a delightful trip. I highly recommend this trip. It does involve a good amount of walking so wear our comfy shoes.

Nafplio & Mycenae One Day Tour from Athens: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rhodes.

How much does Nafplio & Mycenae One Day Tour from Athens cost?

    +

Prices start at $143 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rhodes usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Nafplio & Mycenae One Day Tour from Athens take?

    +

Plan for about 11 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rhodes is not rushed.

Is Nafplio & Mycenae One Day Tour from Athens worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 57 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.9/5 across 16 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rhodes, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Nafplio & Mycenae One Day Tour from Athens?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Nafplio & Mycenae One Day Tour from Athens suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 11-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Nafplio & Mycenae One Day Tour from Athens?

    +

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rhodes can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rhodes and add a light layer if any part of the 11-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Nafplio & Mycenae One Day Tour from Athens start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rhodes within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Rhodes?

    +

On Outty we rank every Rhodes experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Makarounas Fishing Boat Trip with swimming stop and BBQ on board, Athens cruise: Agistri, Moni/Metopi, Aegina with lunch & drinks, Rhodes Sea Kayaking Tour – The Pirates Route. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Rhodes?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Rhodes?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
