About this experience
The route begins in Athens and crosses the Corinth Canal, passing through the Gulf of Corinth to arrive at Mycenae. Here travelers will be able to relive the expedition to Troy at Mycenae and admire the kingdom of Agamemnon. Mycenae is an archaeological site near Mykines in Argolis, it is located about 120 kilometres (75 miles) south-west of Athens, 11 kilometres (7 miles) north of Argos and 48 kilometres (30 miles) south of Corinth. The site is 19 kilometres (12 miles) inland from the Saronic Gulf and built upon a hill rising 900 feet (274 metres) above sea level. In the second millennium BC, Mycenae was one of the major centres of Greek civilization, a military stronghold which dominated much of southern Greece, Crete, the Cyclades and parts of southwest Anatolia. The period of Greek history from about 1600 BC to about 1100 BC is called Mycenaean in reference to Mycenae. At its peak in 1350 BC, the citadel and lower town had a population of 30,000 and an area of 32 hectares.

Well worth it
This was a personal private transportation to Mycenae from our Athens airport hotel and return to the hotel. Our driver, Alex, was prompt; the vehicle was immaculate; water bottles were provided. He was willing to make stops at other sites such as the Corinth Canal and talked to us about other things we saw on the journey. We had all the time we wanted at Mycenae to investigate the site and museum. We found the signs and brochure provided at the site were informative, so did not miss a guide. We had seen other sites on the Peloponnese, so this allowed us to see the one site we had not seen conveniently and comfortably.
Response from the operator: Hello G9629OJjamesw, Thank you so much for your kind words and positive feedback! We’re truly grateful for your support and look forward to seeing you again! LS Tours and Transfers Team

Good experience if you are interested in history. Visit in the mornings or late afternoon.
The tour guide was pleasant and patient with my family. He gave us interesting information about Greek history. The Corinth canal was impressive. It was also impressive that the architecture of past still stands.

Why this scores 66
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Mycenae Half-Day Private Tour from Athens: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.
How much does Mycenae Half-Day Private Tour from Athens cost?
+
Prices start at $49 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Mycenae Half-Day Private Tour from Athens take?
+
Plan for about 5.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.
Is Mycenae Half-Day Private Tour from Athens worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Mycenae Half-Day Private Tour from Athens?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Mycenae Half-Day Private Tour from Athens suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Mycenae Half-Day Private Tour from Athens?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 5.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Mycenae Half-Day Private Tour from Athens start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Athens?
+
On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Athens?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Athens?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
