If you are an avid lover of ancient history, then My Son Sanctuary is a must-see! Located in the upper area of the Thu Bon River, near Da Nang City and about 20 km west of Tra Kieu Citadel, My Son is a cluster of Hindu temples in Duy Phu Commune, Duy Xuyen District. Once a sacred site for the Cham people (known today as Cham), it was used for making sacrifices to the gods. Built between the 4th and 13th centuries A.D., this renowned architectural complex was dedicated to the god Shiva. Our guide will provide insights into Cham history and their Hindu worship practices. Additionally, you will have the chance to watch a traditional Cham dance performance. Recognized as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in 1999, My Son is a fascinating destination.

Worth the trip from Hoi An

Mr Lee knows the site very well and happily shares all of his knowledge regarding Vietnam history, his English is very good and he likes to speak a few words in many other languages; we got an extra 30 minutes to visit the site that is partially under restoration

Wonderful Private Trip to My Son Sanctuary

We really enjoyed our trip to My Son Sanctuary! Our tour guide, Mr. Lee, was very helpful and knowledgeable, and our driver, Mr. Lamb, was excellent. We had a wonderful private trip and truly enjoyed the experience. Highly recommend this tour if you want to explore Hoi An and its history!

Informative and Professionally Guided

This tour is exactly what it says. Our journey was about an hours drive through the backroads between Hoi An and My Son. Our guide Hung explained things along the way and once at My Son took us to each site explaining the time of build, restoration and meaning behind the symbols and style of sculpture. Fascinating place and so glad we had the opportunity to learn Champa culture and see a displayful dance and flute performance. Thanks Hung for a wonderful morning - great coffee, shopping as spa recommendations helped too for after our tour!

Response from the operator: Dear customer , Thank you so much for your great review about our company. Looking forward to welcoming you back one day. Many blessings to you and your family in the future ! Best regards My Son Tour

Van was the most knowledgeable tour guide and this private tour was perfect from start to finish - I highly recommend

Our tour to My Son yesterday from start to finish could not have been any better. Our tour guide Van was waiting at our pick up point bang on time, as per the instructions from the tour operator which were down to a tee. Van was so knowledgeable, explaining to much to us on the car journey to the site (just myself and my husband, the driver and Van) in a very comfortable car and good driver. Van walked us through so much information & facts about not only Vietnam and its history but also My Son, and he took the best pictures for us to remember our trip as he knew the very best angles to get pictures from. Having a private tour guide was worth every penny and the whole tour was fantastic. After My Son, we took a local boat at sunset down towards the old town of Hoi An whilst eating THE best banh mi ever, again Van captured these moments on my camera. I cannot recommend this tour enough, I only wish we had more time here to book another tour with Van.

Response from the operator: Dear customer , Thank you so much for your wonderful review about our company. Looking forward to welcoming you back one day. Many blessings to you and your family in the future ! Best regards My Son Tour

My Son Sanctuary Half-Day Private Tour with a Knowledgeale Guide: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hoi An.

How much does My Son Sanctuary Half-Day Private Tour with a Knowledgeale Guide cost?

+

Prices start at $30 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hoi An usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does My Son Sanctuary Half-Day Private Tour with a Knowledgeale Guide take?

+

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hoi An is not rushed.

Is My Son Sanctuary Half-Day Private Tour with a Knowledgeale Guide worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 17 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hoi An, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule My Son Sanctuary Half-Day Private Tour with a Knowledgeale Guide?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is My Son Sanctuary Half-Day Private Tour with a Knowledgeale Guide suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 4-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book My Son Sanctuary Half-Day Private Tour with a Knowledgeale Guide?

+

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hoi An can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hoi An and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does My Son Sanctuary Half-Day Private Tour with a Knowledgeale Guide start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hoi An within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Hoi An?

+

On Outty we rank every Hoi An experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include HOI AN Hidden Gems in Rural Villages & River Islands PRIVATE TOUR, Coconut Jungle Eco & Hoi An City Tour With Boat Ride, Cooking Class Hoi An:Local Market, Basket Boat, Fishing & Cooking. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Hoi An?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Hoi An?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
