Don’t do it!

There was very little commentary. Too much dead airtime as we passed by areas. The commentary didn’t match the areas we drove by most of the time. We rode by areas so fast you could barely get a picture. I purchased the green line ticket online. I didn’t realize it was for one line. I was able to upgrade for 5 Euros in person to be able to ride both the green and orange line. The driver rode past the stops. You don’t really know what is available at the stops.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the tour did not fully meet your expectations. Our Hop-on Hop-off tours operate on fixed city routes and schedules, and the audio commentary is coordinated with the route as closely as possible. However, traffic conditions and city traffic flow can occasionally affect timing and pacing. As with regular city traffic, buses are also unable to stop or slow down spontaneously for sightseeing or photographs outside designated stops. Please also note that different ticket options are available for the various tour lines, with upgrades possible on site. We nevertheless appreciate your comments regarding the information provided at the stops and the onboard experience and will pass your feedback on internally for review.

Save money, do it better, just get transport day pass

By comparison to 24h pass on public transport:- When hopped off can only hop back on same bus company and only at designated stops, compared to any bus/tram/underground. Although 24hr for ticket will continue next day, only after 10am, so lot of potential use missed. Sightseeing bus far more expensive, possibly 2 or 4 times. Also:- If decide to hop off may have only seconds to do so after seeing something of interest. If see something to photograph, usually through dirty or scratched glass, possibly on other sude of bus, and while moving and without option to choose best shot, ie always just holiday snaps. Commentary not always clear and cannot be repeated if not heard.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback and for sharing your perspective. We understand that Hop-on Hop-off tours may not suit every travel style equally, especially compared to using public transportation independently. Our sightseeing buses operate on fixed routes and schedules with designated stops, allowing guests to explore the city flexibly throughout the day while also receiving guided commentary and panoramic views along the route. As with all city transport services, spontaneous stops or extended pauses during the route are unfortunately not possible. We nevertheless appreciate your comments, as guest feedback helps us to continuously review and improve the experience we provide.

Munich City Hop-on Hop-off Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Munich.

How much does Munich City Hop-on Hop-off Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $17 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Munich usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Munich City Hop-on Hop-off Tour take?

+

Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Munich is not rushed.

Is Munich City Hop-on Hop-off Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.5/5 across 1,246 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Munich, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Munich City Hop-on Hop-off Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Munich City Hop-on Hop-off Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Munich City Hop-on Hop-off Tour?

+

Around 436 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Munich can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Munich and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Munich City Hop-on Hop-off Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Munich within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Munich?

+

On Outty we rank every Munich experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Guided Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site Tour with Train from Munich, Munich Classic Bike Tour @ 11.30am with Surfers & beergarden stop, Dachau Memorial Half-Day Tour from Munich (Early-Start). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Munich?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Munich?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
