    What you'll see and do

    1. Sassoon Dock

One of the oldest harbours, Sassoon Dock, is the largest wholesale fish market in Mumbai as well. It is also one of the very few Mumbai docks open to the public. Believed to be the native of Mumbai city, the Koli community has been a part of the Mumbai trading scene for a long time now. Several people going through a hard day of work dressed in the traditional Koli attire are some of the typical sights of the region. Sassoon Dock is a hidden gem of Mumbai which has seen more history than any of us and gives a great chance at history knowledge too. Although not among the popular top-visits of the city, the dock is definitely an attraction, mainly for all seafood history buffs.

    2. Dadar

Right outside the station, under the Dadar flyover flourishes the wholesale flower market, possibly the only one in Mumbai. The tiny, narrow lane is lined with kiosks, stalls and even wooden planks with one thing in common, flowers and the sweet fragrance that awaits us. Dadar Flower market is one of the must visit places in Mumbai, whether you are a local or a traveller. The best place to buy wholesale flowers

    3. Banganga

Banganga is a large freshwater tank surrounded by ghats and used to immerse ashes in Mumbai. According to mythology, Lord Rama and his brother Lakshman took rest here while on their quest to search for Lord Rama’s wife, Sita. Rama asked his brother Lakshman to bring some water when he was thirsty. So Lakshman shot an arrow into the ground from where fresh water rose forth. This fresh water is said to symbolize the Ganges River and hence the place gets the name Banganga, meaning Baan (Arrow) – Ganga (Ganges).

See the real Mumbai in action

A great experience of the crazy early morning markets. Cooler part of the day to experience the buying & selling of produce. Fish market chaotic, wear washable shoes. Fantastic guide which made our tour.

    Great stuff well recommended

A genuinely great experience. A bit dubious being up so early but well worth it. Kamkesh took me to one interesting place after another and ended up with a lovely chai

    MUST DO

If you can only do 1 tour, this should be it. Despite the very early start we had the most amazing morning with our guide Adi. From the mayhem of the fish markets (like no other), the peace of the flower market and everything in between including newspaper sorting, fruit market, veg market, chicken market (pass if you’re a vegetarian - I did) all before most people get out of bed, this was the best tour and our guide Adi was sensational.

Response from the operator: Thank you for such a valuable feedback. Our main aim is to satisfy our customers. Please do recommend us to your loved ones

Mumbai by Dawn: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mumbai.

How much does Mumbai by Dawn cost?

    +

Prices start at $30 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mumbai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Mumbai by Dawn take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mumbai is not rushed.

Is Mumbai by Dawn worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Mumbai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Mumbai by Dawn?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Mumbai by Dawn suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Mumbai by Dawn?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mumbai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mumbai and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Mumbai by Dawn start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mumbai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Mumbai?

    +

On Outty we rank every Mumbai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Elephanta Caves & Island Guided Private Tour, Dharavi Slum Tour, Mumbai: Dharavi Slum & Dhobi Ghat Laundry Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Mumbai?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Mumbai?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
