La Paz, Sajama National Park and the amazing Uyuni salt flats (Nature / culture ) The Sajama National Park includes geological natural wonders like volcanoes, diverse organisms, and thermal springs, and also cultural wonders such as ancient burial buildings, cave paintings, and colonial architecture and art. There are numerous geysers and hot springs which are about an hour walk from the village of Sajama. Plants and animals must be able to handle high altitudes with less available oxygen, cold nightly temperatures and frosts well into the spring, little shade or protection from the elements, and arid, dry conditions. Uyuni salt flat, at nearly 12,000 feet above sea level, the Salar dazzles the eye and plays optical tricks on you with what look like white hexagonal tiles of salt that seem to go on forever. In winter (our summer), you can drive across it. In summer (our winter), the Salar becomes a giant puddle, and the reflection of sky and clouds seems to reflect the entire world.

    Incredible Tour of Bolivia

We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 day salt flat tour with Latina Travel Designers, which was coordinated expertly by Pablo. We appreciate how he responded to our questions in a timely manner and was flexible with adjusting the itinerary based on our interests and preferencs. Pablo was our tour guide and Eric was our driver for the trip. Pick up and drop off across the Chilean-Bolivian border all went smoothly. Pablo explained the fauna, wildlife and landmarks along the entire tour, and as an experienced mountaineering guide, gave us a feeling of comfort when hiking at higher altitudes in Sajama. Both Pablo and Eric were very kind and helped us take an amazing stargazing photo. We felt safe when driving with Eric and we were impressed with how he traversed difficult landscapes when the regular path was closed because of snow and how he navigated the busy and chaotic streets of La Paz. We started at the Chilean/Bolivian boarder and ended at La Paz via Sajama. The salt flats were the highlight of our 3 week trip in south America, with it's purple hued sunsets and the cacti populated Incahuasi island standing out. The Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve was another gem, especially Laguna Colorada, with its beautifully colored red lake being populated with countless flamingos. Sajama national park was also impressive with it's imposing volcanoes and beautiful hot springs. We also did a city walking tour of La Paz with Latina Travel Designers. Our guide was Roberto. Roberto was kind and very knowledgeable about the different parts of the city and it's history. He patiently taught us how to use the Mi Teleférico gondolas, making us feel comfortable to navigate them ourselves after the tour. The tour highlights included learning about the La Paz jail, the witches Market and seeing the unique landscape of moon valley, all of which Roberto expertly explained. We did a few other city tours in our South American travels, but this was by far our favourite. La Paz is such an interesting city we we really enjoyed our guided tour.

Uyuni - La Paz via Sajama National Park

We did the five-day tour from Uyuni to La Paz via Sajama with Latina Bolivia Travel Designers, and it was truly an amazing experience. Everything was very well organized and taken care of throughout the entire trip. The landscapes and places we visited were absolutely beautiful, and we especially loved Sajama National Park — it really surprised us and was one of the highlights of the tour. Unfortunately, we had some bad weather during our trip, which meant that we had to skip a few parts of the original itinerary. We really appreciated how Pablo handled this. He always made decisions with our safety in mind, and we felt very comfortable with the choices he made. Pablo was also very knowledgeable and shared a lot of interesting information about the places we visited along the way. A special thanks as well to Chapaco, our driver, who safely drove us through some very remote and challenging areas and made us feel in good hands throughout the journey. The food was also very well arranged every day, including plenty of good options for me as a vegetarian. We would definitely recommend Latina Bolivia Travel Designers to anyone looking for a well-organized, personal and safe tour through Bolivia. If I ever return to Bolivia, I would absolutely contact them again!

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience with Latina Bolivia Travel Designers. We are delighted to know that you enjoyed the landscapes and that Sajama National Park was one of the highlights of your journey. We truly appreciate your kind words about our team, especially Pablo and Chapaco, who worked to ensure your safety, confidence, and care throughout the trip. Your feedback inspires us to continue offering authentic and personalized journeys in Bolivia. Thank you for choosing Latina Bolivia Travel Designers.

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. What should I bring or wear?

    +

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit La Paz?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in La Paz?

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
