    The Mud Volcano was...

The Mud Volcano was definitely a unique experience and something I’m glad I did while visiting Cartagena. Floating in the mud was fun, relaxing, and unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. It’s one of those attractions that’s worth trying at least once. That said, be prepared for people expecting tips at almost every step. Someone held my hand while walking up the stairs, even though I didn’t ask for assistance, and then expected a tip afterward. It felt like there was constant pressure to pay for every little thing. We also had an issue with pricing. The man selling coconuts quoted us one price, but later the tour guide told us a higher price, which was frustrating and felt dishonest. Lunch was included, and while the coconut rice was delicious, the chicken was bland and lacked seasoning. Overall, the mud volcano itself was a great experience and something I’d recommend for the novelty of it. Just go prepared for aggressive tipping expectations and double-check prices before purchasing anything. The attraction itself was memorable, but the service and constant requests for money took away from the overall experience.

    Happy with what I experienced

A good tourist company, the tour meets expectations. The volcano thing was a nice experience, but yes, you have to know how to say NO when you don't need a service offered, because they are very burdensome when it comes to tipping.

    Bad choise

Expensive value tour, the bus was very old and in bad contitions. They pick up me first.. And Drop off last. Bad behaviour from guide girl with few few information. In the volcano u need to pay extra for many things. The food was medium. In the Beach, nothing saw and the pool was without sunbed and chairs but nobody care for this

    Small beach area

Beach area didn’t look like this picture at all. Smaller area and hardly any beach. Pool area was nice and food was good.

Viator is awesome! GEORGE IS THE BEST!

We did the Rosario Island tour this past weekend and it was awesome! They literally take care of everything. Trip begins very early around 6:30am. Which we loved because it allowed us to start early and still get back to the hotel in time for relaxation, and leisure. Back to the tour. They take you to Rosario Island, stops at ISLA BARU, ISLA CHOLON, PLAYA AGUA AZUL, and other small private islands giving you a brief history review. They also provide you with snacks at a few islands, as well as lunch included. Make sure you bring some extra cash to try drinks (COCOLOCO is my favorite) and get massages and sourviners. Our guide was GEORGE and he was awesome and hilarious. He is an amazing swimmer and will capture great videos of you snorkeling with his GoPro. He made sure everyone was safe and good to go. Get ready for a fun boat ride! Thank you again George!

Mud Volcano + Beach Club Experience with Lunch Cartagena: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cartagena.

How much does Mud Volcano + Beach Club Experience with Lunch Cartagena cost?

    +

Prices start at $55 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cartagena usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Mud Volcano + Beach Club Experience with Lunch Cartagena take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cartagena is not rushed.

Is Mud Volcano + Beach Club Experience with Lunch Cartagena worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cartagena, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Mud Volcano + Beach Club Experience with Lunch Cartagena?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Mud Volcano + Beach Club Experience with Lunch Cartagena suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Mud Volcano + Beach Club Experience with Lunch Cartagena?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cartagena can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cartagena and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Mud Volcano + Beach Club Experience with Lunch Cartagena start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cartagena within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cartagena?

    +

On Outty we rank every Cartagena experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cartagena Antigua & Barrio Getsemani group with audio system, Historic Center & Getsemaní Shared Tour in Cartagena, Cartagena VIP Boat Tour: Rosario Islands & Snorkel. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cartagena?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cartagena?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
