Breath-taking views in Arcadia region + A nice peek in the traditional villages

We booked three consecutive days of private tour with Crispy Local and this is the second day. We enjoyed this trip a lot with Dimitris as our driver. 🙂 It was a wonderful and relaxing drive to the region seeing a different side of the countryside in Greece with rugged mountains, valleys, the traditional villages etc. We are also pleased to have Dimitris as our driver as he is friendly, welcoming and easy to spend time with. 😊 He is also knowledgeable about many things (history of Arcadia region or the places we drove past e.g. Ancient Corinth, Greek Revolution of 1821 among others.). For all three days that we did the tour with Crispy Local, both drivers (Harry and Dimitris) are welcoming, informative and the whole tours were handled professionally. I highly recommend Crispy Local. :)

    A Day in Arcadia

I spent the day going around Arcadia’s villages and monasteries with Giorgos. He was a great guide, and as this was my second tour with him I got to know him well. We always had great conversations and was very knowledgeable and answered the questions I asked. He took me to amazing monasteries and gave me plenty of time to enjoy them, and I spent time enjoying the villages in the mountains. He also gave me the option to have a traditional meal in a village tavern that was less for tourists and more local for an authentic Greek food experience and it was great. I had time to do some shopping and get some gifts. I would recommend this tour to anyone looking to get out of the busy city for a day and experience a quaint traditional Greek way of life for a day.

We saw Peloponnesian villages which may be of interest if you've seen all Athens has to offer.

Our tour guide was prompt and picked up at our hotel in a van. If you're looking for a tour outside of Athens and have had several days in Athens, this may be a good choice but only if you've seen all that interests you in Athens. One of the villages was interesting, shops were open, the other was not especially interesting, everything was closed, and the tavern where we ate was very disappointing. There was no atmosphere at all and the food, which we paid for, was TERRIBLE. When we asked about the monastery, we were particularly interested in touring a clifftop monastery (listed on the description), the guide drove us to a distant viewpoint where we could see a clifftop monastery but there was a absolutely no way to reach it from where we were. We would have had to hike down into a valley (many switchbacks) and then hike up a long distance to the monastery. We saw two monks coming up from the path with donkeys and loading potatoes to take back. By the time we got to the viewpoint and saw the monastery, late in the afternoon, we knew that there was no way we could get there and back (that would have taken at least an hour, and we are all very fit) in daylight. We headed back down the mountain in the van and our return to Athens still took over 2 hrs. It was an okay day but only just okay.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to write this review. it is great that you enjoyed the visit to the first village. As these are remote small villages, it is not usual to have shops and a lot of entertaining. That is why we visit these beautiful places away from the big cities, to see the beauty and calmness. The restaurant that you visited is the best in the area with great reviews and authentic as only locals visit it. The menu is not of a modern restaurant and this is what people look for. If you had in mind a modern restaurtant with a specific atmosphere, then this tour is far off it. Regarding the walk to the monastery, it is only 15 minutes. Our driver advised you that some people even do it less than 15 minutes. He even showed you a gps map to be sure. As a rule of thumb, before booking an experience, is strongly advised to always check the "what to expect" info in order to have a good idea of the whole itinerary and stops. Thank you again for your feedback and we wish you a great time in Greece!

Super nice guide w much knowledge

Anthony was a wonderful guide and driver who brought us on a tour of Arcadia. The spots he picked were beautiful and we didn’t feel rushed. He told us much about the region and its mythology on the way.

    Traditional villages and monasteries Arcadia

Great day trip to mountain villages, monastery and the river. Villages were picturesque. Great view of the mountains. Villages are very close to skiing slopes. We hiked down to see a monastery. It’s a 20 minute walk from parking lot. Very interesting place, highly recommend to visit. Lunch was good and very reasonably priced. Harry was a good driver and had a great personality.

Mt. Villages of Arcadia & Clifftop Monastery Private Day Trip: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.

How much does Mt. Villages of Arcadia & Clifftop Monastery Private Day Trip cost?

    +

Prices start at $70 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Mt. Villages of Arcadia & Clifftop Monastery Private Day Trip take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.

Is Mt. Villages of Arcadia & Clifftop Monastery Private Day Trip worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Mt. Villages of Arcadia & Clifftop Monastery Private Day Trip?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Mt. Villages of Arcadia & Clifftop Monastery Private Day Trip suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Mt. Villages of Arcadia & Clifftop Monastery Private Day Trip?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Mt. Villages of Arcadia & Clifftop Monastery Private Day Trip start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Athens?

    +

On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Athens?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Athens?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
