Great Hosts with Amazing Sunset
We had an amazing time on this sunset excursion. Rebel was very informative and witty! Once we got to the top of the mountain, we were greeted by the owners, Charles and Ginger, who welcomed us into their beautiful house with an even better view! This excursion was worth the money! I would do it again :)
Response from the operator: Hello Rackensack Canyon Tour Guests ! Thank you for the great Review of our Mountain Shadows Sunset Tour...We always enjoy sharing Arizona's History & Beautiful Sunsets and we're excited that you'll be back again ! Sincerely, Ginger Underwood

Great experience!
I can’t say enough amazing things about our experience with Mountside Tour—it truly exceeded every expectation. First, Paul, our tour guide, was outstanding. He was incredibly informative, patient, and genuinely attentive to everyone in our group. You could tell he wasn’t just reciting facts... he really cared about making sure we understood and experienced the area in a meaningful way. And then there’s Ginger and Charles- just wow! Two of the most humble, kind, and welcoming people you will ever meet. The fact that they open up their home to guests says everything about who they are. This isn’t just a business for them, but it’s clearly a passion, and you feel that in every detail of the experience. What I appreciated most is that this tour didn’t feel “touristy.” It felt authentic. We were able to truly connect with the area, its story, and its beauty in a way that you just don’t get with larger, commercial tours. Communication leading up to the tour and throughout was clear, smooth, and stress-free. Everything was well organized and thoughtfully planned. If you’re looking for something personal, meaningful, and genuinely special, this is it! I would 100% recommend Mountside Tour and would absolutely do it again!
Response from the operator: Hi Bobbie, So good to hear from you ! Yes, your Desert Guide, Paul is an incredible Asset to our Team and so happy to hear that he made your trip up the Mountain informed and memorable. Charles & I both also want to thank for your very kind remarks because we Love sharing our piece of the Arizona Desert with it's amazing History and Beauty. We definitely think you captured all our Tours with your thoughtful word...."Authentic" and we appreciate you taking the time to write such a Personal & Special Review. Travel safe and we look forward to seeing you again soon !

Fun and enjoyable, but possibly not worth the price
The review is mixed for the Rackensack Canyon Mountain Shadows Sunset Jeep Tour. Our driver, Paul, was very courteous and did a good job explaining the local wildlife and fauna, as well as the history of Charles and Ginger’s house we were going to visit. It could have been better, though, as the front window of the jeep, where the additional seats were added on the back, was so dirty it was hard to see through. Charles and Ginger were very nice and had very interesting backgrounds. Hearing the stories of how they bought the land, built the steep treacherous road, and built the house was the highlight of the trip. Coffee and hot chocolate, along with some snacks, were available at Charles and Ginger’s house. The views from their house were impressive, but not what we were expecting for the sunset. Our expectation was that from the top of the mountain, we would be looking down over the valley towards the sunset. The sunset actually sets over another nearby peak. Although still good, it is not the long-range sunset view we were expecting, with a look down over the horizon far into the distance. It was somewhat anticlimactic. Overall, we did have a good time, but it was just a jeep ride up a steep slope to a house with a nice view and some interesting owners. I did not feel it was worth the $145 per-person price tag, but it was still fun to do.
Response from the operator: Hello Seaside, We strive to provide a five star experience for each of our guests and are disappointed to hear that our Mountain Shadows Sunset Tour did not meet your expectations. We do appreciate your positive accolades but would like to address your other concerns as follows: • Thanks for pointing out the excessive front window dust in our open-air Jeep Rig which we will clean more frequently. • We are at God’s Mercy on this one, but Arizona Sunsets are caused by dry desert air, high-altitude clouds, and airborne dust particles that scatter sunlight. Unfortunately, these conditions are intermittent and apparently were not ideal for an extended, vibrant sunset during your visit. • Spot check of 3/16/26 direct book pricing of Scottsdale Area (4) competitors, Sunset Jeep Tours range from $135 to $195. We really appreciate you taking the time to detail your experience so thoroughly and would be happy to refund amount you felt was overpaid if you call/text Charles at 480-980-5650. Sincerely, Charles Underwood, Owner Rackensack Canyon Tours

Scenic guided adventure tour.
Had the pleasure of being invited to get onboard a scenic tour at sunset with Rackensack. Rebel was the guide and impressed me with her Sonoran Desert/Arizona history knowledge. She entertained us with some great southern style hospitality on the off-road journey. Top notch outdoor activity, minutes from Scottsdale. Highly recommended!
Response from the operator: We appreciate your perspective and taking the time to share it with future guests. It was our pleasure to serve as hosts. Thanks C&G

Amazing Mountain Sunset Experience with Mr. Charlie and Ginger
We had an amazing experience!!! Omg absolutely breathtaking view. The tour guide was so informative and knowledgeable about the area. It was truly a passion for her. Then we got to Ginger and Charlie house it was so cozy!!!! The apple cider was so warm and cookies and was fresh. We played games and just relaxed and enjoyed the views. It felt so unreal. Even when we called to book it was pleasant experience. We will definitely be back.
Response from the operator: Aldreka, You ladies were a treat to spend time with on our Mountaintop. Your enthusiasm was infectious and it made Saturday evening special for us. We look forward to seeing you again next time you visit Arizona. Travel Safe & Warm Regards G&C

Why this scores 62
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Mountain Shadows Sunset Jeep Tour minutes from Scottsdale: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Phoenix.
How much does Mountain Shadows Sunset Jeep Tour minutes from Scottsdale cost?
+
Prices start at $175 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Phoenix usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Mountain Shadows Sunset Jeep Tour minutes from Scottsdale take?
+
Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Phoenix is not rushed.
Is Mountain Shadows Sunset Jeep Tour minutes from Scottsdale worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Phoenix, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Mountain Shadows Sunset Jeep Tour minutes from Scottsdale?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Mountain Shadows Sunset Jeep Tour minutes from Scottsdale suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Mountain Shadows Sunset Jeep Tour minutes from Scottsdale?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Phoenix can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Phoenix and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Mountain Shadows Sunset Jeep Tour minutes from Scottsdale start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Phoenix within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Phoenix?
+
Phoenix runs on desert experiences: sunrise hot air balloon lifts over the Sonoran, Camelback and South Mountain hikes, off-road Tonto Forest tours and day trips to Sedona and the Grand Canyon. Heat safety and start times decide whether a tour is good, so we weight timing detail in the ranking. On Outty we rank every Phoenix experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kayaking the Salt River Foxtail Trip, Grand Canyon with Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon Van Tour, Phoenix Hot Air Balloon Ride at Sunrise. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Phoenix?
+
November to April. Summer tours run at dawn or not at all. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Phoenix?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
