Rama, Jou Trekking & Mount Sangkaerang all get 5 starts from us
We loved our experience with Jou Trekking and can't recommend them enough. Rama our guide was very knowledgeable about the hike, and kept us at a good pace to get to the crater rim & summit to see the sunset and relax. As we were on a private tour we could go as quick, or as slow, as we wanted, and I'd really recommend doing a private tour if you can. The tent was super clean and the sleeping bags smelled really fresh. Everything was catered for and we had walking sticks (definitely use them), gloves and a headlamp each too. I'm vegan and they catered to my veganism really well, we had a range of food. I'd just recommend bringing some vegan snacks if you are vegan, but my partner had a huge bag of chocolate, biscuits and more to choose from whenever he was hungry, in addition to all the meals. The trek itself has some challenging parts but if you are determined enough you can do it. You get a really similar view to the Rinjani summit trek, but with a more scenic, less dangerous and less busy trek. At the Mount Sangkaerang summit there was only 10 people at the top for the view, it feels like a bit of a cheat code to get a beautiful sunrise and crater view.

A memorable experience thanks to Alex and his team
We had the chance to climb Mount Rinjani with Alex, and it was an unforgettable experience! He has always adapted to our pace, with patience and kindness. Always smiling and interesting, he made the climb motivating and rewarding thanks to his explanations and positive energy. A huge thank you also to the porters, without whom this adventure would not have been possible. Their work is admirable: take all the equipment to the top, while ensuring that we are always well settled and well fed. The meals were incredible, each better than the last — a real treat after the effort. Thanks to Alex and the whole team, we will keep engraved memories for life of this magical ascent.

Unforgettable
With a friend we made the trek 2 days 1 night to climb to the second summit. An amazing experience! Everything was perfect, our Guide Rudi was very caring with us, smiling and good mood at the meeting which made the effort more pleasant. Comfort, good food and quantity, cleanliness (waste collection, which is not the case of all agencies that offer the trek unfortunately...). We recommend without hesitation!

Two Days and One Night to Mount Rinjani's Second Summit
Our adventure with Jou Trekking to the second summit of Mount Rinjani was wonderful and we wholeheartedly recommend the tour. We climbed to the second summit (2D1N departing from Seranu), as we arrived during shoulder season and only had 2 days of time in Lombok. This alternative journey is offered by only a few tour guides and adds something extra to the normally advertised Crater Rim tour. We were a group of 2 however the Jou Trekking team also caters to larger groups. From the moment we met our guide, Anton, we knew we were in good hands. Anton's great knowledge of the local flora and fauna added depth to our hike, which was most appreciated. He catered to all walking speeds and is fluent in English and Bahasa. Bar the view (which really speaks for itself), one of the highlights of our trek was the rare sight of the ebony leaf monkey, endemic to the region. We were incredibly lucky to spot these three times during our hike, adding a magical touch to our adventure. Anton highlighted that this was likely due to us walking the track at an unusual time of day (having done the 2nd Summit peak instead of starting the descent earlier). From a practical perspective, Jou Trekking also covered transport to and from the airport, managed by WhatsApp which was a huge plus for us as it was all included in the package. Additionally, the food provided throughout the trek was delicious and satisfying (tempeh curry, pasta and ayam stirfry), keeping our energy levels high! One should note, Jou trekking is on the more expensive side for such a hike, however the company takes much of the hassle and thinking out of organisation, making the increased price worth it in our experience. Finally, one regret is not staying longer in the beautiful Seranu area. This trek has left us eager for more, and we can't wait to explore further and summit next time we arrive in Lombok. For anyone seeking an educational, sometimes difficult hike experience, we highly recommend Jou Trekking.

Mount Rinjani Second Summit 2 Days 1 Night: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lombok.
How much does Mount Rinjani Second Summit 2 Days 1 Night cost?
+
Prices start at $210 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lombok usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Mount Rinjani Second Summit 2 Days 1 Night take?
+
Plan for about 48 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lombok is not rushed.
Is Mount Rinjani Second Summit 2 Days 1 Night worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Lombok, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Mount Rinjani Second Summit 2 Days 1 Night?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Mount Rinjani Second Summit 2 Days 1 Night suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 48-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Mount Rinjani Second Summit 2 Days 1 Night?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lombok can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lombok and add a light layer if any part of the 48-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Mount Rinjani Second Summit 2 Days 1 Night start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lombok within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lombok?
+
On Outty we rank every Lombok experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Anggrek Putih Lombok Cooking Class & Garden Tour, Private Car Charter in Bali with an English-speaking Driver, Tetebatu Walking Tour - Rice Terraces, Waterfall & Monkey Forest. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lombok?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lombok?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
