About this experience
All tickets are included in the price! If you want to accelerate your Swiss Alps trekking tours and you can’t decide whether you should visit Mount Rigi or Mount Pilatus—why not see them both? This Swiss adventure tour allows you to experience the two most famous mountains near Lucerne on the same day. We start with Lucerne’s home mountain called Pilatus, 7000 feet high and the most famous attraction in Lucerne. We’ll take a standard train ride followed by a ride on the steepest cogwheel train in the world. On the summit you’ll take in a staggering overview of Lucerne and the Swiss Alps. From there we’ll continue by boat to a village called Vitznau. The boat ride is a fantastic way to relax and enjoy the alpine scenery. From Vitznau, we take our second cogwheel train for a ride to the top of Mount Rigi—the queen of the mountains. You’ll enjoy your second summit on the same day before we continue by cable car and take a boat ride from Weggis back to Lucerne.

Pilatus Day of Fun!
We had the best experience in Pilatus with our wonderful guide Roberto! Of our whole Europe trip, it was my favorite day. Roberto tailored the day towards what we enjoyed most, and fit so many experiences into one day. He worked hard to ensure we would be the first of the day on our most anticipated excursion, the Frakigaudi toboggan run, and it was so fun! He knew the Pilatus park very well and advised us what things to do in a certain order due to the possibility of rain shutting some things down. He sure planned well because we did it all: the toboggan run, the dragon glider, ropes course, and final gondola to the top of Pilatus for the spectacular views! During conversation, we informed him that our mom loves pictures, so he took it upon himself to become our photographer as we were up in the ropes course and on the top of the mountain! Even though my parents did not join us on this excursion, he was able to advise them about accessibility and clothing for our next day, which greatly reduced their worry and stress, and later checked in to see how it went. I would 100% do this again, and recommend others do too!
Response from the operator: Wowww what a compliment to be your favorite day of your entire Europe trip... It was a great day on Pilatus and we are super happy you enjoyed our advice to wake up a bit earlier to be the first once on the toboggan without any lines. Thanks for your support and keep travelling and exploring the world. Kindest regards The Riccardi Travel Team

Great experience with Riccardi
We booked two different tours, Mt. Rigi / Lucerne and interlakken, Brienze, Grondelwald, and Lauterbrunnen. These were some of the best vacations days that I have ever had. The guides were intimately familiar with the locations, were prompt, and kept things very interesting. They truly care about these places and that was clear during the 2 days. I would recommend Riccardi to anyone looking to make their trip to Switzerland truly special.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much Andrew for your review. I hope your dad recovered well with his knee, thank you. I wish you both many more adventures together and if next time you will come back with your wife we can create a new adventure. All the best from the Riccardi Travel Team

Amazing Tours with Riccardi Travel
Roberto was a professional from the first interaction to the last. Truly and incredible set of tours that my family will always remember. Roberto helped us create two unique tours using Lucerne as our home base. The first to Pilatus, and the second to the Lauterbrunnen valley. Roberto (and Pedro) did an amazing job making each tour feel special and unique for our family - adding personalized touches that helped our kids feel comfortable and appreciated. Truly top notch service.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much Michael for your review. It was a pleasure to show you the best of Switzerland in this short amount of time, I hope you will have another change to explore even more. All the best and keep traveling the world. The Riccardi Travel Team

Best guide in Lucerne
I am a travel agent and spend time in Europe each year, most years multiple visits. I have experienced many excellent guides. Roberto is truly the best of the best. I was travelling with a small group of my clients on this trip. Many of them are very well travelled and everyone agreed. You can not get a better guide for this tour. It was a perfect day spent with the perfect guide. I give him my highest recommendation.
Response from the operator: Wowww Katharine thank you so much for this outstanding review. It was a real honor to get up to 7000 feet with you and your group and especially your super fun parents. Have a great time on the Viking cruise and I look forward to working with you in the future. Kindest regards Roberto

Don’t keep looking you will not find a better guide!!!
Roberto is the best. Honestly, the trip wouldn't have been the same without him, he's the one who made it special. So attentive to us the whole time, incredibly patient, and he knows Switzerland like the back of his hand. He took us to the most amazing spots, the kind you'd never find on your own, and gave us the best tips. We all left absolutely in love with Switzerland, and it was all thanks to him. If you're heading there and want someone who'll put together an unforgettable trip, look for Roberto. Thank you for everything.
Response from the operator: Woww...Hannah thank you so much for your spectacular review and for your trust in our company and service. It was such a great pleasure to guide you and your amazing family and show you all the hidden spots. Enjoy the rest of your trip through Switzerland, enjoy more lakes, toboggans and of course the chocolate at Lindt. Come back soon :-) saludos, The Riccardi Travel Team

Why this scores 73
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Mount Pilatus & Mount Rigi in just 1 Day!: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lucerne.
How much does Mount Pilatus & Mount Rigi in just 1 Day! cost?
+
Prices start at $120 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lucerne usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Mount Pilatus & Mount Rigi in just 1 Day! take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lucerne is not rushed.
Is Mount Pilatus & Mount Rigi in just 1 Day! worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 17 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lucerne, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Mount Pilatus & Mount Rigi in just 1 Day!?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Mount Pilatus & Mount Rigi in just 1 Day! suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Mount Pilatus & Mount Rigi in just 1 Day!?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lucerne can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lucerne and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Mount Pilatus & Mount Rigi in just 1 Day! start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lucerne within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lucerne?
+
On Outty we rank every Lucerne experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jungfraujoch Top of Europe Day Trip from Lucerne, Lucerne Walking & Boat Tour: The Best Swiss Experience, Mount Pilatus Summit from Lucerne With Lake Cruise. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lucerne?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lucerne?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
