Moto Safari 3 Hours Hurghada

Brilliant and memorable

After being approached at the poolside in Neverland Hurghada, one of the representatives of Moto Safari gave us a good deal of a private tour of quad biking in the Arabian desert. The price of £160 for five of us based on my Wife and daughter sharing a quad bike was fairly reasonable. This included transfer from the hotel and back again. On arrival it was a little bit daunting but everybody was friendly and welcoming, we was met by our guide who gave us a quick overview of our quad bikes (don’t expect a helmet, health & safety video or signing a waiver here, this is Egypt after all). A guide took us 25 km into the desert stopping halfway to take plenty of photos of all of us on our phones no extra charge when we reached halfway we were shown a small place to sit to have some Chai and he then took us to see the camels, although we hadn’t paid to ride the camels he was very insistent that we tried. We also was able to stroke the baby camel as well as seeing a baby lion. After about half an hour rest we got back onto our quad bikes returning back to the base. Overall we spent approximately three hours and it was such a great time and a great memory made (our guide even videoed us all driving through the desert). We gave our guide a $20 tip because he did go above and beyond and was really nice despite an obvious language barrier. Definitely worth the visit. Tip: Take your own goggles as there is a $3 charge per pair.

Short introduction to buggie and squat driving in desert environment

Kwat and buggie ride was a bit short. Safarie rid to camels was fast and rough. But should be I guess.

Not the experience I expected

At the beginning, during the quad bike part, everything was quite good. Even though some quad bikes had problems and sometimes stopped working, the start of the excursion was fun overall. What I did not like at all, and why I would not recommend this experience, was the camel part. When we arrived there, there were small huts where little children were making traditional bread on the floor. I do not know under what conditions these children are really working or if they actually receive the money that tourists give them as tips, or if the guides keep it. I thought it was very sad to see children being used as a tourist attraction. I also noticed that some of the people who walked with the camel during the ride, guiding it with a rope, were quite old and had difficulty walking. This made me question again the conditions in which these people work. In summary, I would not recommend this experience. The beginning of the excursion was nice, but later the situation made me feel uncomfortable and left me with a bad impression of the place.

Oförglömlig upplevelse!

Our experience with Moto Safari was absolutely amazing from start to finish – an adventure we’ll never forget! Everything was incredibly well-organized and professional. We had our own guide and photographer with us throughout the safari, which made us feel safe and also gave us fantastic photos to take home as memories. During the tour, we were treated to traditional tea at a Bedouin camp, where we also got to see how the Bedouins bake their bread over an open fire – and we even got to taste it fresh. It was a genuine and beautiful insight into their culture. The evening ended with a delicious buffet, which was the perfect way to round off a day full of experiences, breathtaking scenery, and adrenaline-filled driving. We highly recommend Moto Safari to anyone looking for an extraordinary adventure. A huge thank you to the entire team for giving us a memory for life!

Disappointing

Whilst the activities were good, the whole experience was rushed, had one bite of my ’lunch’ (cold rice and half a sheek kebab) and was told to hurry up. Did get a bottle of water but no tea/coffee as promised. The quad bike did not steer properly and no advice was given in how to navigate the desert. No helmet, so I went slow to the annoyance of our terse ‘instructor’ . Then we were kept waiting while replacement dune buggy was located which had no seatbelts and seats that were loose. No safety talk, no helmet. Camel ride lasted 3 minutes, and it was all rush, rush, rush to get back to the’show’ which never materialised after 40 minutes waiting in the cold, so gave up and asked to come back to hotel. We were also told when booking there would be stargazing, but that didn’t happen either. So overall it was ok but would not do again with this operator. I don’t like to give bad reviews but felt others should know. I certainly would not take children or anyone with the slightest of mobility issues. You live and learn 🙏
