What you'll see and do
Bryggen is one of Norway’s most iconic sights—Bergen’s postcard-famous row of colorful wooden buildings along the harbor. Travelers will pass this UNESCO-listed waterfront and see the historic architecture that has become a signature image of Bergen and Norway.
Pass by without stopping
Travelers will pass the iconic Nordhordland Bridge, a striking combination of suspension bridge and floating bridge spanning the fjord north of Bergen. Known for its unique engineering and dramatic setting, the bridge is a recognizable landmark and an impressive sight when entering the fjord landscape.
Pass by without stopping
Travelers will cruise through the scenic Osterfjord, a narrow fjord surrounded by steep mountains, waterfalls, and untouched nature. The fjord offers classic Norwegian scenery and a calm, dramatic atmosphere as the journey continues deeper into the fjord landscape.
180 minutes here
Mostraumen is where the fjord trip really comes alive. The landscape closes in, the mountains feel suddenly much higher, and the waterway tightens into a narrow passage shaped by strong tidal currents. On the way through, you’ll glide past steep rock walls and spot waterfalls dropping straight into the fjord—often close enough that you’ll want your camera ready. It’s a short stretch, but it’s the part most people remember from the day.

- This tour will go in rain or shine. In the winter months, it can happen that the sea freezes in the innermost part of the fjord where there is a lot of fresh water mixed with the sea water, brackish water. If there is so much ice that there is no safe passage for boats, the captain will then choose an alternative route in this area. This is beyond our control and it does not give grounds for claiming a refund for the trip. We will always do our best to give our customers great experiences, even on days when the forces of nature are not easy to handle.

We visited Bergen as a...
We visited Bergen as a cruise port stop and wanted to get closer to the fjords while in Norway. The views were absolutely stunning. The boat was plenty large enough with both indoor and outdoor areas to sit and enjoy the view. Most folks started out up top but made their way inside once we started moving and it got chillier. Definitely bring a heavier coat, hat and gloves. Even if it’s warm out on land, it’ll get chilly once the boat starts moving and you won’t want to miss everything there is to see. There were drinks and snacks available for purchase and a bathroom inside. I was a little worried that 3.5 hours was going to feel long and get a little boring but there was so much to see that it flew by.

Breathtaking
Amazing and spectacular sights of fjords and colorful villages. Beautiful even with the clouds as made it more dramatic. Highly recommend!

Why this scores 79
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Mostraumen Fjord Cruise – Operated & Guided by Locals: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bergen.
How much does Mostraumen Fjord Cruise – Operated & Guided by Locals cost?
+
Prices start at $336 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bergen usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Mostraumen Fjord Cruise – Operated & Guided by Locals take?
+
Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bergen is not rushed.
Is Mostraumen Fjord Cruise – Operated & Guided by Locals worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 79 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 912 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Bergen, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Mostraumen Fjord Cruise – Operated & Guided by Locals?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Mostraumen Fjord Cruise – Operated & Guided by Locals suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Mostraumen Fjord Cruise – Operated & Guided by Locals?
+
Around 319 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bergen can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bergen and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Mostraumen Fjord Cruise – Operated & Guided by Locals start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bergen within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Bergen?
+
On Outty we rank every Bergen experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Walking Tour in Bergen of the Past and Present, Guided Tour To Nærøyfjorden, Flåm & Stegastein - incl. 2h cruise, Discover Bergen on Foot and Boat. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Bergen?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Bergen?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
