Step into the grounds of Shikaumi Shrine, a sacred shrine dedicated to the gods of the sea. The priest will guide you around the shrine and teach you about the different customs and the shrine’s history. In the Main Hall - an area generally off-limits to the public -experience a special morning prayer ceremony consisting of drums, chanting, and spiritual tools. After the ceremony, watch as the sky brightens with morning light from the shrine’s extraordinary viewpoint that overlooks the sea. If you’re lucky, you may catch a beautiful sunrise! Interact with the shrine’s priest, who serves as this tour’s guide. ------------- - This tour is conducted in Japanese. Supplementary English materials can be provided. - In case of severe weather, the tour may be canceled. - The tour will start roughly 30 minutes before sunrise between 5:30 and 7:00 am. The extract start time will be communicated once the date is confirmed. - Children under 5 years can accompany guardians free of charge.
