What you get

    About this experience

Captain Dave Amsterdam introduced early morning cruising in Amsterdam years ago. We sail early, when the canals are calm and quiet —the best time for relaxed cruising and beautiful photos. Unlike standard tours with fixed routes and scripted commentary, our cruises are personal, informative, and fun. Every tour is different. We start along the iconic Canal Ring (UNESCO World Heritage) and let the city guide us. Our boats: At 8:00 & 10:00, we cruise on the Jonckvrouw —an intimate, fully electric Navigating Monument from 1928, once used by the Dutch royals. She features sliding glass windows, a sunroof, an open aft deck, heating, and a light‑use toilet. At 8:30 & 10:30, we sail on our iconic James Bond boat, a former taxi boat with full 360° views, perfect for photography. Toilet on board. Award Winners for Best Amsterdam Boat Tour, recipients of the Badge of Excellence, and listed among the Best Rated Airbnb Experiences. See you onboard, Captain Dave Amsterdam

    Awesome Morning Canal Cruise

My wife & I loved this early-morning cruise ….. quiet & no boats on canal! Very calm. Breakfast breads, coffee, juices, water. The smaller boat was extremely comfortable …. even had a bathroom! Our driver was a lady who works with Captain Dave …. she was awesome! She took us to a few areas “out of the way”. ….. so cool. We both loved this canal tour!

    Relaxing morning

Relaxed peaceful boat tour. We would have liked more history/information. Kids enjoyed the cake & drinks on offer.

    A fantastic canal tour

Fantastic canal tour - our guide and boat captain was Gisella We cruised on the Royal Jonckvrouw (Young Frau) - a boat rich in history We were (unexpectedly) served sugar bread (a classic Dutch food apparently) orange juice and coffee - I had no idea a breakfast was provided We had a 90 mins guided tour around the north west and central canals with Gisella who gave an excellent tour of the surrounding area. She was very knowledgeable about the history and context of the entire area. A wonderful morning canal cruise - 5 out 5 stars!

    Entertaining,...

ENTERTAINING, informative, unpretentious canal cruise! My family and I truly enjoyed our morning cruise of the famous Amsterdam canals thanks to Captain Ollie! He is very personable and engaging. Captain Ollie effortlessly intertwined facts about Amsterdam, the buildings that we passed along the cruise route, and “New Amsterdam” (aka New York, our home town)! A light breakfast of coffee, tea, fresh-squeezed orange juice, and sugar bread was served in a delightful setting aboard our boat, the James Bond (a former water taxi). There is also a bathroom on board for “light use,” which is very convenient. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this tour. The morning views of the canals are breathtaking!

loved, loved, loved this tour with Jan

We loved our boat ride with Jan. He loves his city and knows everything. I’d highly recommend starting with this tour early on your trip to learn the small details of the canals and architecture around you. (And he gives a secret list of his favourite spots!!)

Morning Canal Cruise Amsterdam in Small-Group: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Amsterdam.

How much does Morning Canal Cruise Amsterdam in Small-Group cost?

    +

Prices start at $36 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Amsterdam usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Morning Canal Cruise Amsterdam in Small-Group take?

    +

Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Amsterdam is not rushed.

Is Morning Canal Cruise Amsterdam in Small-Group worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 88 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 786 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Amsterdam, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Morning Canal Cruise Amsterdam in Small-Group?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Morning Canal Cruise Amsterdam in Small-Group suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Morning Canal Cruise Amsterdam in Small-Group?

    +

Around 275 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Amsterdam can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Amsterdam and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Morning Canal Cruise Amsterdam in Small-Group start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Amsterdam within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Amsterdam?

    +

On Outty we rank every Amsterdam experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Amsterdam Canal Cruise with Local Guide and Small Group, Guided Bike Tour of Amsterdam's Highlights & Hidden Gems, Amsterdam: Luxury Canal Cruise including Cocktails & Snacks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Amsterdam?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Amsterdam?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
