About this experience

On this private experience, you’ll explore the Montserrat Monastery with your English-speaking guide, who will share the stories and legends that shape this sanctuary. You’ll ascend the mountain on the scenic cogwheel train, taking in panoramic views of its iconic peaks. Montserrat is embraced by two of Catalonia’s historic wine regions: DO Pla de Bages to the north and DO Penedès to the south, both home to vineyards dating back over 2,000 years. Depending on availability and preference, you’ll visit a family-owned organic winery in one of these regions, where you’ll learn how local climate and soil influence the character of the wines. Your visit concludes with a Catalan charcuterie and cheese brunch, featuring cured meats, artisan cheeses, and local specialties, paired with a tasting of four high-end organic wines, both sparkling and still. Designed at a relaxed pace, this day offers a thoughtful blend of cultural heritage and winemaking tradition.

What you'll see and do

  1. Abadia De Montserrat

After a scenic ascent on the cogwheel train, you’ll arrive at the Monastery of Santa Maria de Montserrat, a living sanctuary founded almost a thousand years ago and still home to a working Benedictine community. As you walk through the basilica and monastery grounds, you’ll learn how generations of monks have preserved not only the faith and traditions of this sacred site, but also its music, art, and education. The combination of ancient devotion, dramatic mountain landscapes, and quiet spiritual atmosphere makes Montserrat not only a site of religious significance, but also a place for reflection, awe, and connection.

  2. Oller del Mas

After your visit to the monastery, the day continues at Oller del Mas, a family-owned organic winery in DO Pla de Bages, set at the foot of Montserrat. Depending on availability, your visit may alternatively take place at Finca Ca n’Estella in DO Penedès. Both estates offer an authentic, family-driven approach to winemaking. If you are particularly interested in Cava, mention it in the comments when booking and we will do our best to arrange your visit to Penedès. If you prefer red wines, Oller del Mas is known for its organic, character-driven wines shaped by the local soils and microclimate. If no preference is indicated, Oller del Mas will be our primary winery, with Ca n’Estella offered as an alternative depending on availability and operational considerations.

Wonderful time

Vince was an awesome tour guide. Loved his French accent made the European adventure even more authentic. Super fun and very informative . Our first time in Spain and second tour with Viator. I enjoyed the ac between the two sites. Montserrat was beautiful and the wine tour was super intimate. Vince knows a lot about wine and shared that with us. Loved his stories and personal touch.

Montserrat & Boutique Winery with Catalan Brunch | Private Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Barcelona.

How much does Montserrat & Boutique Winery with Catalan Brunch | Private Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $215 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Barcelona usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Montserrat & Boutique Winery with Catalan Brunch | Private Tour take?

+

Plan for about 6.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Barcelona is not rushed.

Is Montserrat & Boutique Winery with Catalan Brunch | Private Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 77 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 91 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Barcelona, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Montserrat & Boutique Winery with Catalan Brunch | Private Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Montserrat & Boutique Winery with Catalan Brunch | Private Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Montserrat & Boutique Winery with Catalan Brunch | Private Tour?

+

Around 32 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Barcelona can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Barcelona and add a light layer if any part of the 6.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Montserrat & Boutique Winery with Catalan Brunch | Private Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Barcelona within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Barcelona?

+

Barcelona's Gaudí sites are capacity-limited and the official timed tickets go first, so most of the market is resellers with a guide attached. We weight those heavily on whether the guide is an architecture specialist. Beyond Gaudí, the tapas crawls in Gràcia and the Montserrat day trips carry the highest rankings in the city. On Outty we rank every Barcelona experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Gràcia Tapas and Vermouth Crawl, Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel & Cliff Jump from Barcelona, Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel, Cliff Jump & lunch Small Group. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Barcelona?

+

May, June, September and October. Sagrada Família light is best mid-morning. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Barcelona?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
