Montserrat is amazing - but be sure to clarify the travel arrangements on any tour there
Montserrat is breathtakingly beautiful - both the mountains and the basilica - and should not be missed! Our guide, Valeria, was very friendly and helpful. HOWEVER, no matter what tour you choose to Montserrat, be sure you clarify the travel arrangements. Once you get to the town at the base of the mountain, you can take a train or a cable car to the top. It’s how you get to the town from Barcelona that isn’t clear in this listing, or some others. My husband has some health and mobility challenges so I purposely chose to pay extra for a private tour to avoid having him slow down a group tour and to make the travel to and from the town easier on him. I incorrectly assumed that private tour meant a private car to the town. It does not. The tour is entirely on public transportation. We took a commuter train to the town which was noisy (difficult to have a conversation) and not very friendly to the mobility challenged (stairs to get on & off). Yes, the listing says ‘by train’, but since I knew there was a train up the mountain, I thought that's what it was referring to. Don’t get me wrong - for most people the commuter train would be just fine. I write all of this just to caution people to be aware of what to expect. Our guide said we were not the only people who had expected a private car for this ‘private’ tour.
Response from the operator: Dear R1442DGleslieh Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review. It is great to learn that you were so satisfied with the visit. I appreciate your kind words about our guide, Valeria. Regarding your comments about the transportation, I regret to learn that you understood that you had any private transportation included. Please bear in mind that we offer two options for the Montserrat private tour. One of them includes transportation in a private vehicle from the customer’s hotel. The option you booked does not include pick up; transportation is made with public transport from the meeting point. These details regarding inclusions on our private tours are shared with all authorized selling points and agencies. Best regards

Guides can be better researched on traveller's interests
Needs to be less scripted, rehearsed and more well understood from the traveller's point of view too
Response from the operator: Dear Varun_G Thank you for sharing this review, I regret to learn that the private tour to Montserrat didn't live up to your expectations, We will take your comments into account, as we strive to provide excellent service, Best regards,

Unprofessional Monserrat private tour
It a half day private tour. Tour guide told us to wait in cafeteria building at 12.15 . 5 other group member also there waiting. Arrive at the location around 11.45 and haven’t seen the tour guide at all. 12.15 we all went out in heavy rain not seing anyone of other group and guide. They left 6 of us and we been told that we should go back on our own risk. Bad experience. Don’t book with them in Barcelona. Hope on and off is ok but Montserrat tour guide is really bad . !!!!
Response from the operator: Dear Cassie0001, Thank you for taking the time to write this review, I regret to elarn taht you coudl not return with the group by not attending the meeting place on time. Please note that your booking was for the regular guided group tour, not a private tour, Our guide indicated to all attendants that the meeting point to return was the parking lot near the Coffee Shop and the exact time, adding that the return to Barcelona could not be delayed in excess. At the meeting time, they waited 10 minute extara, after the indicated time to return, as a goodwill gesture, and then departure to Barcelona. Best regards,

Boy’s Choir
Our guide, Jugo, met us at our hotel and we then took a metro and then a train to Monsterret. (Given our first time on those, it was nice to have a guide.). Jugó was very friendly and shared a lot of insight. One thing we didn’t know is that you need to purchase tickets for the boy‘a choir ahead of time as it is typically sold out. If that is something you’re interested, contact the tour company and let them know.
Response from the operator: Dear Marie_S, Thank you for sharing your experience on the Montserrat 7-hour Private Tour from Barcelona with Lunch. We're glad to hear that Jugo, your guide, provided friendly service and insightful information throughout the tour. We appreciate your valuable tip about purchasing tickets for the boy's choir in advance, as it tends to be sold out. We encourage future travelers who are interested in this experience to contact our tour company and inform us in advance. Thank you for choosing our tour, and we hope you had a memorable visit to Montserrat. Best regards,

Why this scores 67
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Montserrat 7-hour Private Tour from Barcelona with Lunch: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Barcelona.
How much does Montserrat 7-hour Private Tour from Barcelona with Lunch cost?
+
Prices start at $138 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Barcelona usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Montserrat 7-hour Private Tour from Barcelona with Lunch take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Barcelona is not rushed.
Is Montserrat 7-hour Private Tour from Barcelona with Lunch worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 48 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Barcelona, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Montserrat 7-hour Private Tour from Barcelona with Lunch?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Montserrat 7-hour Private Tour from Barcelona with Lunch suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Montserrat 7-hour Private Tour from Barcelona with Lunch?
+
Around 17 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Barcelona can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Barcelona and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Montserrat 7-hour Private Tour from Barcelona with Lunch start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Barcelona within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Barcelona?
+
Barcelona's Gaudí sites are capacity-limited and the official timed tickets go first, so most of the market is resellers with a guide attached. We weight those heavily on whether the guide is an architecture specialist. Beyond Gaudí, the tapas crawls in Gràcia and the Montserrat day trips carry the highest rankings in the city. On Outty we rank every Barcelona experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Gràcia Tapas and Vermouth Crawl, Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel & Cliff Jump from Barcelona, Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel, Cliff Jump & lunch Small Group. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Barcelona?
+
May, June, September and October. Sagrada Família light is best mid-morning. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Barcelona?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
