Amazing trip
Our guide was Alex and he was very kind and knowledgeable. Cautious but efficient driver too. The trip was great as we saw the capuchin monkeys in wild, such a peaceful and serene experience! Then went to a local restaurant and our food concern/choice was taken care of, without any problem. Monteverde forest was the highlight of the trip, with amazing guide there too. It was an amazing experience through the forest and hanging bridges.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your fantastic review! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the Monteverde Hanging Bridges Day Trip from San Jose and that Alex's knowledge, kindness, and professionalism helped make your experience so memorable. Seeing wild capuchin monkeys, exploring the breathtaking Monteverde Cloud Forest, and walking across the hanging bridges are truly unforgettable Costa Rica nature experiences. We are also glad that your dining preferences were accommodated with ease. We can't wait to guide you on your next trip to Costa Rica!

Alex was awesome ✨
It was a long day. Most of the trip was spent in a car ride. The trip started at 7am, and we were back at the hotel around 8.30PM. It was worth the long car ride. The trail we went to was phenomenal! It was a true rainforest experience. Our tour guide (Alex) took really good care of us. He was very kind and funny. The food was okay, nothing special. The survivor shop we went to after the trip was very expensive. Everything there was the same thing they sell at the airport. The car ride was very rough, so please be prepared lol. The only thing we didn't like was the first stop at the snack shops. It was way too long. It was about 40 minutes. I think that was unnecessary. We only have about 20 minutes to spend time with the monkey. If you are the type of person who loves animals and cares about nature, you will not enjoy Monkey House. Don't forget to bring a rain jacket!
Response from the operator: Thank you for your detailed review of our Monteverde Hanging Bridges Day Trip from San Jose! We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed the incredible Monteverde Cloud Forest and that Alex made your Costa Rica rainforest adventure even more special with his kindness, humor, and attentive care throughout the long journey. The Monteverde region is one of the most unique destinations in Costa Rica for hanging bridges, wildlife observation, and immersive nature experiences, and we are glad the trail itself felt phenomenal and truly memorable for you. We also sincerely appreciate your constructive feedback regarding the duration of stops, the travel time, and the overall pacing of the itinerary, as well as your comments about the snack shop visit and time allocated at each stop. This kind of input is very valuable and helps us continue improving our Costa Rica tours from San Jose to ensure a better balance between travel comfort, activities, and free time for guests. We are glad Alex could make the long day more enjoyable and that you still found the overall experience worth it despite the road conditions and extended schedule. Thank you again for choosing our Monteverde Hanging Bridges tour, and for sharing helpful tips like bringing a rain jacket, which is always useful for Costa Rica’s beautiful rainforest climate. We would love to support you on your next Costa Rica travel experience!

So So
Long Day for seniors pick up @ 5:30 home @ 8PM. Needs to find better stops with better bathrooms. We did have enough bathroom stops. Tour operator choice of restaurant did not provide the food we pre-order. I do not like subitutes as I am a diabetic. Would like to driver to stop occasionally for scenic stops. The tour guide was informative. But group moved along too quickly for seniors.Guide did not find any wild birds or animals. Will go UTube for info before going. Then take an Uber as we are group of three. Should have group rates. After watching UTube will plan my own trip.
Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback about the Monteverde Hanging Bridges Day Trip from San Jose. We understand your concerns regarding the early pickup, late return, pace of the group, and the issue with the pre-ordered meal. We ask you to please understand that we have to depart early for this tour in order to avoid the morning traffic of the city and to arrive at a good time in Monteverde for the hanging bridges walk. With regards to your comment about the guide not finding wild birds or animals, please note that it is not something we promise as part of the itinerary, as we know that Monteverde is not a good place for wildlife observation. That´s why our tour is focused on the observation of the beautiful Cloud Forest from the Hanging Bridges at Selvatura Park. We are glad to know that the guide was informative. Thank you again for your feedback.

Why this scores 81
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Monteverde Hanging Bridges Day Trip from San Jose: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Alajuela.
How much does Monteverde Hanging Bridges Day Trip from San Jose cost?
+
Prices start at $222 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Alajuela usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Monteverde Hanging Bridges Day Trip from San Jose take?
+
Plan for about 13 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Alajuela is not rushed.
Is Monteverde Hanging Bridges Day Trip from San Jose worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 81 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 211 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Alajuela, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Monteverde Hanging Bridges Day Trip from San Jose?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Monteverde Hanging Bridges Day Trip from San Jose suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 13-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Monteverde Hanging Bridges Day Trip from San Jose?
+
Around 74 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Alajuela can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Alajuela and add a light layer if any part of the 13-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Monteverde Hanging Bridges Day Trip from San Jose start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Alajuela within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Alajuela?
+
On Outty we rank every Alajuela experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Arenal Volcano Full-Day Combo Tour with Lunch and Dinner, Arenal Volcano Experience Full-Day Tour from San Jose, Manuel Antonio National Park Sightseeing and Wildlife Day Tour from San Jose. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Alajuela?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Alajuela?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
