Excellent Guide and Extraordinary Canopy Views

Let's be clear: The Entrance Fee is NOT Included. I don't like feeling foolish.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback and for choosing Johnny Loves Nature Eco-Tours. We sincerely regret any confusion regarding the entrance fee and understand how important clear information is. Wonderful tour and tour guide

We were happy with this experience. Johnny is so knowledgeable and was able to slot a howler monkey and the amazing resplendent quetzal. Google that! What a great guide. It was a beautiful day to walk the trails through this section of cloud forest over 8 hanging bridges. Thank you Johnny!

    Didn’t get our moneys worth

Dave was an excellent tour guide and very knowledgeable. Me and my wife really enjoyed our time with him. There’s nothing I can say bad about him- just a wonderful guy. As far as the process of booking, the fees, and the time we were there we felt the entrance fees were not really worth what we got. We did have the bridges pretty much all to ourselves at 2:30 pm which was a pleasant surprise. There was absolutely no wildlife which was disappointing but that’s nature for you. Another thing me and my wife had an issue with was we drove 3 hours from Samara for a day trip to do this tour and a couple others and it was supposed to start at 11am and we actually didn’t start til 12 noon because there was another group of people who were supposed to be with us in the tour but the were doing another excursion at the time and we had to wait on them to be finished so they could join us. Dave eventually found them then they disappeared again but we still waited to give them time to show up. So an hour was wasted standing around. We chose not to go on all of the bridges so we could have time to eat lunch before our next excursion. If you’re looking for a cheap food option in the area eat off the property by either driving back to the town a few mins back down the hillside or pull out of Salvature park and go up the hill to a great Soda where we ate authentic Costa Rican food for about $20 US. Because of our experience I really don’t see the need for hiring a guide unless it’s a night tour. Just our opinion! Pura Vida!!!!

Response from the operator: Dear Douglas, Thank you very much for your detailed and thoughtful review of your experience on our Monteverde Cloud Forest Hanging Bridges Guided Walk. First, we truly appreciate your kind words about Dave. He is a passionate and certified local naturalist guide, and we are proud to hear that you enjoyed your time with him. Providing professional, knowledgeable, and friendly guidance in the Monteverde Cloud Forest is one of our top priorities. We sincerely apologize for the delay in the tour departure. Waiting for other participants is not the experience we aim to provide, especially for guests who travel long distances, such as your 3-hour drive from Sámara. Your time is valuable, and we are reviewing our coordination procedures to ensure better punctuality and smoother logistics in the future. Regarding wildlife sightings, as you mentioned, nature can be unpredictable—particularly during afternoon hours when animal activity in the cloud forest may be lower. However, our guided tours are designed not only around sightings but also around ecological interpretation, biodiversity education, and understanding the unique ecosystem of Monteverde’s hanging bridges and canopy levels. Concerning entrance fees, these are established by the private reserve and park administration. They contribute directly to trail maintenance, conservation efforts, forest protection, and sustainable tourism practices in Costa Rica. We always strive to be transparent about these costs during the booking process. We truly value your honest feedback. It helps us refine our service and improve the overall experience for future visitors seeking a professional guided walk in the Monteverde Cloud Forest. If you ever return to Monteverde, we would be honored to provide you with another experience—perhaps a wildlife-focused early morning tour or one of our highly rated night walks, where biodiversity observation tends to be more active. Thank you again for supporting local eco-tourism in Costa Rica. Warm regards, Johnny Monteverde, Costa Rica

Monteverde Cloud Forest Hanging Bridges Guided Walk: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Monteverde.

How much does Monteverde Cloud Forest Hanging Bridges Guided Walk cost?

    +

Prices start at $11 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Monteverde usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Monteverde Cloud Forest Hanging Bridges Guided Walk take?

    +

Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Monteverde is not rushed.

Is Monteverde Cloud Forest Hanging Bridges Guided Walk worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 29 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Monteverde, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Monteverde Cloud Forest Hanging Bridges Guided Walk?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Monteverde Cloud Forest Hanging Bridges Guided Walk suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Monteverde Cloud Forest Hanging Bridges Guided Walk?

    +

Around 10 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Monteverde can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Monteverde and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Monteverde Cloud Forest Hanging Bridges Guided Walk start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Monteverde within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Monteverde?

    +

On Outty we rank every Monteverde experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Original Canopy Tour Monteverde, Zipline, Coffee, Chocolate & Sugar Cane Tour (Regular), Monteverde Cloud Forest Guided Nature Walk with Expert Naturalist. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Monteverde?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Monteverde?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
