What you'll see and do
Sam Sharpe Square
In 1976 Charles Square in Montego Bay was renamed Sam Sharpe Square in honour of national hero Sam Sharpe who was from Montego Bay. Sharpe was executed in the Montego Bay Market Place on May 23, 1832 for his role in the 1831-32 Emancipation War. The square includes several heritage structures: the Sam Sharpe Monument, the Cage, the Civic Centre and the Freedom Monument and a fountain. The Sam Sharpe Monument, designed by Kay Sullivan, portrays Sharpe holding his Bible and speaking to his people. The five statues were cast in bronze in Jamaica. They were unveiled by the then Prime Minister the Most Honourable Edward Seaga on October 16, 1983 at a ceremony in the Square.

Crafts Market
The city's main craft market is a kaleidoscope of color. The colours that dominate are yellow, blue, purple and green. You cannot miss it. Purchase a wide range of straw and wooden souvenirs. The selection also includes T–shirts, hats, dolls and other novelties. Each brightly coloured little wooden shop is stocked with authentic Jamaican craft items. The lilt of the Jamaican accent adds a musical touch, as vendors try to get tourists to take a look and purchase a little piece of Jamaica to take back home. It's impossible to walk the streets of Montego Bay without running into a few crafts dealers, but your best bet for high quality goods is the Crafts Market at Harbour Street. This downtown area offers a variety of handmade leather, wood, and straw souvenirs. Items you are likely to encounter include straw hats, musical instruments, and beads.

Hip Strip
Hailed as the place to party on Montego Bay's "Hip Strip" Gloucester Avenue, Margaritaville is perfect for anyone looking for an exciting night out on the town. Delicious food and a lively atmosphere make Margaritaville the place to be day and night! By day, you can enjoy international sporting events on the big screen TV's and jam to the laid back sounds of Jimmy Buffett. At night, the 'Ville swings to the sounds of the in-house DJ and partygoers strut their stuff on Karaoke, Mardi Gras and Pajama Party theme nights! The busy bar serves up a rainbow of tropically flavored margaritas and their signature 22-ounce bong of beer! Don't forget to have your Cheeseburger in Paradise!! The most popular daytime attractions are the 110ft waterslide, which winds its way from the roof above into the Caribbean below and the two giant water trampolines anchored just offshore.

Dead End Beach
Dead end beach is a popular public beach just north of Gloucester Avenue, Montego Bay. Sometimes called Buccaneer beach, dead end beach is an easy way to get an authentic Jamaican beach experience. It is basically a narrow strip of white sand over a concrete barrier at the end of a road across from Dead End Bar. The white sand does lead to relatively calm aquamarine waters but dead end is not your traditional tourist beach. Most people go there to socialize or watch the gorgeous sun set over the bay. Low-flying planes coming in to land at the airport nearby is a thrill to see and photograph. Enjoy a cold drink or a game of pool at the Dean End Bar across the street. There are no restrooms available but you may be able to use the facilities at a nearby business.

The Best Tour and Drive for the Money!
First, let me say that the tour was fantastic. However, there are a couple of things that would have made the experience better. I would suggest finding out if the tour will begin on the ship's time or Jamaican time. We waited over an hour because we were on the ship's time. Secondly, find out where you will be picked up. We were waiting at the terminal when actually our car was outside of the terminal and about a blocks walk to the end of the property. Now, as for the tour, it was a very interesting 3 hours. Our driver, Delmar was an excellent driver. The drive on the opposite side of the narrow streets was an adventure in itself. We toured areas that most tourists don't get to see. Our tour guide for Sam Sharp Square was a street wise gentleman named Kevin. We walked around with him learning all kinds of interesting things about the history of Jamaica. We always felt safe. We stopped for jerk chicken at a local spot. They were out of jerk chicken, but the smoked chicken was very good. We paid $10 for a quarter of a chicken and $2 for French fries. It was enough for two people, so it was a meal deal for sure. Delmar then drove us to a local market run by local Jamaican women. They all wanted us to step inside their makeshift shops. We found what we liked and haggled until the price was right. We then headed to Dead End beach for a photo opt. We drove down the hip strip on the way back to the shop. We were so impressed with Jamaica and Delmar, that we want to return and spend more time in Jamaica and hire him as our private driver. I would definitely recommend this tour. It's just the right amount of time, and you don't have to worry about not getting back to the ship on time.

Awesome experience to see local JA life !
My partner and I loved this experience to see the local market and Sam Sharpe Square! Keemo our driver was so nice and chill he made us feel so comfortable. He took us to the local market to get sugar cane, mango, and other little goodies he always made sure the price was right and we felt safe as we explored historical sites in Sam Sharpe Sq. Your guide can help you find anything you are wanting to buy or see. I definitely recommend this activity as a way to see a bit of life off the resort! (:

Jermaine was a very personable and knowledgeable tour operator. He customized the experience to our preferences. 2 of our group are handicapped and he was very solicitous of their needs.

Montego Bay Shopping and Sightseeing Private Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Montego Bay.
How much does Montego Bay Shopping and Sightseeing Private Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $50 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Montego Bay usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Montego Bay Shopping and Sightseeing Private Tour take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Montego Bay is not rushed.
Is Montego Bay Shopping and Sightseeing Private Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 12 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Montego Bay, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Montego Bay Shopping and Sightseeing Private Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Montego Bay Shopping and Sightseeing Private Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Montego Bay Shopping and Sightseeing Private Tour?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Montego Bay can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Montego Bay and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Montego Bay Shopping and Sightseeing Private Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Montego Bay within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Montego Bay?
+
On Outty we rank every Montego Bay experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Appleton Estate Admission Ticket & Distillery Tour with Tastings, Blue Hole and Dunn's River Falls Private Tour from Montego Bay, Montego Bay Clear Kayak Drone Photoshoot & Video. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Montego Bay?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Montego Bay?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
What is included in Montego Bay Shopping and Sightseeing Private Tour?
+
Included: Private transportation; Bottled water; On-board WiFi; All Fees and Taxes; and In-vehicle air conditioning. Not included: Lunch. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.

+
Yes, pickup is offered for every traveler from 1 listed pickup location in and around Montego Bay. Be ready about 30 minutes before the start time. You can also enter a custom pickup address when booking.
What languages is Montego Bay Shopping and Sightseeing Private Tour offered in?
+
It runs in English. Pick your language when choosing a date and time, as not every departure runs in every language.
Will I get instant confirmation and a mobile ticket for Montego Bay Shopping and Sightseeing Private Tour?
+
Confirmation is sent by the operator after booking, usually within 48 hours; if it is not confirmed you are not charged. Mobile tickets are accepted, so you can show the voucher on your phone.
Is Montego Bay Shopping and Sightseeing Private Tour wheelchair or stroller accessible?
+
