Unforgettable Experience with the Best Guide
It was an unforgettable experience! Our guide was very friendly and went above and beyond to create a wonderful experience for us! The zip lines were thrilling and the monkeys were so cute! The staff at the Monkey Jungle were very nice. If you want an amazing experience with the best guide I recommend using Alegria Tours!

This is seriously the only experience you should consider in Puerto Plata
Came in on a cruise ship in March 2026. Many of the providers on here/viator canceled their bookings when they found out because they have agreements with the cruise lines. They say you have to book through the cruise lines - But our cruise line didn't even offer experience. We spent hours sorting through different providers and we are so glad we found Alegria. We were slightly hesitant because of so few reviews here, but when we met our guide we found out he has been doing this for 20 plus years. He's almost a local icon. He has always worked through word of mouth until relatively recently, hence the limited reviews. We have traveled the world and this genuinely was a phenomenal experience that stands out. It got us away from the crowds of the cruise ship and gave us the solo VIP experience we were hoping for. It started with a rugged Indiana Jones style off-road adventure through a jungle and just got better from there. It was seriously so much fun. Every precaution was taken for safety on the zip lines and their "special surprise". The monkey experience in the same facility was insane. Beyond anything I would have imagined. There are so many monkeys and they are so friendly and genuinely happy when people come into spend time with them. There's a small restaurant and drinks in this facility. We generally don't ever do the same experience twice but I genuinely think we will actually come back and do this again, It was that much fun.

What a special experience!
My husband, sister-in-law and I, really wanted to support Monkey Jungle because they give back to the community, with their proceeds going to a free clinic to the Dominicans. You get to walk through the squirrel monkey environment while they use you as a jungle gym to get some food. We got to meet the queen of the squirrel monkeys, China. She was very sweet but every bit the diva her title suggests. It was honestly a fantastic experience. You then get to also feed capuchin monkeys in enclosures, they aren’t as friendly but will do anything for the food the attendant gives you. We managed to hand feed a couple of the gentle ones, but please be careful not all are as friendly. The zip line experience was also very nice, but expect some intense exercise to get to the first line. Lastly our driver Manuel was so nice and knowledgeable about the areas he took us through (the cities to get to monkey jungle and down town Porto Plata). All in all I would do this activity again and suggest it to all animal and adrenaline lovers.
Response from the operator: Good morning, thank you for your comment. We are at your service.

Why this scores 56
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Monkey with Zip line: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Puerto Plata.
How much does Monkey with Zip line cost?
+
Prices start at $150 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Puerto Plata usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Monkey with Zip line take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Puerto Plata is not rushed.
Is Monkey with Zip line worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Puerto Plata, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Monkey with Zip line?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Monkey with Zip line suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Monkey with Zip line?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Puerto Plata can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Puerto Plata and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Monkey with Zip line start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Puerto Plata within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Puerto Plata?
+
On Outty we rank every Puerto Plata experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Monkeyland and Zipline Adventure from Puerto Plata, Monkeyland Puerto Plata, Puerto Plata Highlights City Tours from amber cove and Taino bay. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Puerto Plata?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Puerto Plata?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
