So worth it!!

Carlos was a great guide! So kind and knowledgeable! His English is great!! The monarchs were sooooo incredible to see! Well worth the trip! Also fun to see mountain towns and views and get out of the city!

Response from the operator: Thank you for such kind words! Witnessing the monarchs together is always a magical moment — no matter how many times I visit the sanctuary is always special. So glad you also enjoyed the mountain scenery along the way. Hope to guide you again someday!

Magnificent

Carlos is a brilliant delightful guide. This is a once in a lifetime experience that words can not describe. The butterflies literally lace the trees. When the sun comes out and it warms up a bit they are flying everywhere, thousands of them. You have to see it to believe it.

Response from the operator: What an incredible review—thank you! Carlos truly shines in sharing these magical moments, and we're so glad you witnessed the butterflies draping the trees and filling the sky in thousands. It's a sight that defies description, just as you said. Once-in-a-lifetime indeed—hope we can create more for you soon!

Amazing - Once in a lifetime bucket list

Mariana was an excellent guide answering our numerous questions and explaining the tour. As a Canadian it was cool to see the butterflies that migrated down here (Mexico) from Canada. Enjoyed the horse ride up as well.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled Mariana made your butterfly tour unforgettable—it's always special connecting Canadians with the monarchs that journey from your neck of the woods all the way to Mexico. The horseback ride up is one of our favorites too. We hope to welcome you back for more adventures soon!

How far in advance should I book Monarch Butterflies El Rosario Preserve from Mexico City?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mexico City can sell out a month out. What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mexico City and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

+

On Outty we rank every Mexico City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Frida Kahlo VIP [Museum Tickets Included] Walk, Markets & Churros, Local Foodie Adventure CDMX: Tacos & more with Sherpa Food Tours, Mexico City Historical Centre Food Tour with 7 Tastings & Drinks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Mexico City?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Mexico City?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
