Great time outdoors, had fun together! Cool gadgets!

Our family wanted to celebrate our sons 21st birthday with something different and found this city escape online. It had only one review on the cityscape and we were worried it would be a bad experience. Totally opposite!!!! We had a lot of fun! Once we got to the office space we met Kristi and she spent time exclusively with our family, explained how to use the electronics she gave us and we had her cell number at all times. The puzzles we solved were from “Blackout”. We walked around river walk in Tampa and enjoyed stopping at the designated places, solving the puzzles and moving on to the next puzzle. It is a 2 hour event and you must solve the puzzles quickly for there can be approximately 10 or more! We had an iPad, black light, paper, pen, speaker, holding contraption with an item that contained messages inside (can’t give you more specifics -spoiler). We ran across downtown to solve puzzles (we were slow starting!!!) Teens that love to solve mysteries will love this! Parking was best a Poe garage. Kristi was so hospitable. I would definitely recommend this!!!! It says 1 mile but we walked about 4 miles. Everything is located extremely close though. Great pizza place a block away!!!!! Everything is outside, plan with the weather. A rainy day wouldn’t be enjoyable.

Response from the operator: Thank you, Wontstopmoving! It was a lovely afternoon helping you solve the Blackout Mission and more importantly, make family memories together. Happy 21st to your son! The pizza looks delish, and we hope to have you back again for another adventure! Cheers,

    Unsafe experience

My family and I conducted the blackout hunt In Tampa Florida and it was the worst experience. We were followed by 4 people and almost got robbed. This adventure is a great idea if it was indoors...it's actuality outside in the public eye. Terrible

Response from the operator: Thank you, Millie, for sharing your experience. I want to once again express my sincere apologies that you and your family felt unsafe during your recent adventure on the Riverwalk. Your feedback has been invaluable in helping us reassess and improve our operations, particularly regarding safety. Our adventures take place outdoors along the Riverwalk, in public parks, and on public walkways. While we cannot control the presence of others in these spaces, we have adjusted our routes to ensure our guests feel as secure as possible and can fully enjoy their experience. If there’s anything more we can do to address your concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you again for helping us grow and improve. With appreciation,

    Mission: Blackout: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tampa.

How much does Mission: Blackout cost?

    +

Prices start at $40 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tampa usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Mission: Blackout take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tampa is not rushed.

    Is Mission: Blackout worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 44 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Tampa, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Mission: Blackout?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Mission: Blackout suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Mission: Blackout?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tampa can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tampa and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Mission: Blackout start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tampa within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Tampa?

    +

Tampa covers Busch Gardens, Ybor City food and cigar history walks, manatee snorkelling at Crystal River, dolphin cruises on the bay and Clearwater beach days. Manatee tours are seasonal and heavily regulated, so operator conduct matters. On Outty we rank every Tampa experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Guided Tampa Sightseeing Tour in a Deluxe Street Legal Golf Cart, Shared Ybor City Historic Walking Tour, Escape Game at Midtown Tampa. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Tampa?

    +

November to April, with manatee season from November to March. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Tampa?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

What is included in Mission: Blackout?

    +

Included: Supplies for the mission. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.

Where is the meeting point for Mission: Blackout?

    +

Your agent instructor will meet you in the lobby next to Moxie's Cafe 15 minutes prior to experience launch. Hotel pickup is not included, so plan your own transport and arrive 15 minutes early.

Will I get instant confirmation and a mobile ticket for Mission: Blackout?

    +

Confirmation is sent by the operator after booking, usually within 48 hours; if it is not confirmed you are not charged. Mobile tickets are accepted, so you can show the voucher on your phone.

Is Mission: Blackout wheelchair or stroller accessible?

    +

The operator notes: Wheelchair accessible; Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller; Transportation options are wheelchair accessible; and All areas and surfaces are wheelchair accessible. If accessibility is critical, contact the operator after booking to confirm arrangements for your date.
