Amazing Milford Sound Tour with surprises!
We had a great day with Wayne as our guide! There are many aspects of this trip that we loved including; the pick-up at our Airbnb, small group, comfy van, Dad jokes, afternoon snacks, and NZ movie for the return trip. We especially loved the surprise addition to the morning. We had a breakfast/coffee stop at a local farm where we saw a sheep shearing demonstration and chat with the farmers! We hope this will be a permanent highlight of the tour as it was so memorable! Just a delight! The price is worth the private attention, small tour van and boat, and delicious two course meal. Thank you, Wayne, for your hospitality!
Response from the operator: Hi there, Thank you so much for your wonderful review—it really means a lot to us. I’m so pleased to hear you had such a great day out with Wayne. He’ll be especially happy to know his dad jokes made the highlight reel! It’s fantastic to hear you enjoyed the little touches like the pick-up, small group experience, and the comfort of the van. The farm stop is something we love including when we can, so it’s great to know it was such a memorable part of your day, we agree, it’s pretty special. We’re also delighted you enjoyed the cruise and the two-course meal, along with the overall experience. That personal, relaxed, and locally guided feel is exactly what we aim to deliver. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience, and we hope to welcome you back to New Zealand one day. Kind regards, Kathy

Private day tour from Queenstown to Milford Sound
The booking process with Wayne was fast and easy. He suggested which boat tour to take and explained how the itinerary was going to work with the optional flight option for the return trip. Brian was there on time to pick us up for the tour. He was very informative and super friendly. He pointed out the many sights and wildlife along the way. I was worried about bathroom stops but there were many along the way. Once in Milford sound, Brian escorted us to the dock and assured us that our belongings would be locked up and he would be in the van. Once the cruise was done (which was amazing with exceptional food) Brian was there at the dock waiting for us. The day was long but we expected this. The comfort of the Mercedes sprinter and the scenery made up for the drive time. Oh and I forgot to mention that we were ending a tour and extended our stay at another hotel. Brian helped us with our luggage and stored all of our bags in the van and dropped us off at our second hotel at the end of the day. I would highly recommend Remarcable scenic tours if in the area. You will not regret it and will return home with fantastic memories of your vacation!
Response from the operator: Hi there, Thank you so much for your fantastic review—what a wonderful summary of the day. It’s great to hear Brian looked after you so well. From his informative and friendly approach, pointing out wildlife and scenic highlights along the way, to ensuring everything ran smoothly throughout the day, he really does go the extra mile. We’re especially pleased to hear he made you feel comfortable with regular stops, took care of your belongings, and helped with your luggage and hotel drop-off at the end of the tour. We’re also glad you enjoyed the comfort of the Mercedes Sprinter and the cruise experience, such a special part of the Milford Sound journey. Thank you again for your recommendation, it truly means a lot to our small, family-run team. We’re delighted you’ve gone home with such great memories. Kind regards, Kathy

THE EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME
I had the most wonderful trip to Milford Sound with Kathy Hansen of Remarkable Scenic Tours. I truly believe this lady has magical powers - we had a very misty trip down and some rain and as a consequence every waterfall was working in a spectacular fashion. The boat trip in Milford Sound was better than you could imagine - a clever captain managed to find a large pod of dolphins that entertained us all for at least half an hour - simply magical - then on to the Tasman Sea entrance and returning, enjoying the history of the Sound and marveling at all the waterfalls including the largest of all featured in the photo on the left of this page, on our return trip. On this day it was twice the size in the photo !! Shortly thereafter the clouds parted and by the time we reached Mitre Peak we had full sunshine and majestic views of all the peaks - I don't know how Kathy managed to do this but I shall be eternally grateful ! A very comfortable trip - the vehicle was great - the driving also excellent - expert knowledge of the area and its history and one of the best days of my life. I would recommend contacting Remarkable Scenic Tours as your Tour company in this region - they will personalise a trip you will never forget, and specifically Kathy, who went above and beyond. Thank you so much for my most memorable day.

Couldn’t ask for a better day!
Awesome all round. Chris was a fantastic tour guide, full of information, great music and safe driving skills. The cruise, great boat, intimate experience and Milford Sound on a gorgeous day was spectacular. The ride- recliner chairs, water and snacks topped off a perfect day.

I wish we could do this all over again. Wonderful!
We took a trip with this company to a cruise on Milford Sound and were completely blown away. I would really really recommend them if you are thinking of going from Queenstown to Milford Sound. It’s a long way to drive there and back yourself in one day. Not only was our driver Chris, calm and capable, he was also a local with plenty of interesting nuggets of information. The van was so comfortable and the scenery so spectacular that the time passed really quickly. Plenty of stops for photos and snacks. I just wish we could do it all over again.

Milford Sound Small Group Tour and Cruise from Queenstown Max 8: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Queenstown.
How much does Milford Sound Small Group Tour and Cruise from Queenstown Max 8 cost?
+
Prices start at $815 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Queenstown usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Milford Sound Small Group Tour and Cruise from Queenstown Max 8 take?
+
Plan for about 12.8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Queenstown is not rushed.
Is Milford Sound Small Group Tour and Cruise from Queenstown Max 8 worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Queenstown, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Milford Sound Small Group Tour and Cruise from Queenstown Max 8?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Milford Sound Small Group Tour and Cruise from Queenstown Max 8 suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 9. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 12.8-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Milford Sound Small Group Tour and Cruise from Queenstown Max 8?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Queenstown can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Queenstown and add a light layer if any part of the 12.8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Milford Sound Small Group Tour and Cruise from Queenstown Max 8 start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Queenstown within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Queenstown?
+
On Outty we rank every Queenstown experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Premium Milford Sound Small Group Tour & Cruise from Queenstown, Milford Sound Premium Small Group Tour & Cruise from Queenstown, Award Winning Premium Wine Tour Queenstown Tasting at 4 Wineries. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Queenstown?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Queenstown?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
