What you get

    About this experience

The Ocoee River formed naturally without any of the undercuts or sieves present in most waterways. For our rafters that means we can push the boundaries of what a non-professional can experience. At OAR we train for longer then any other company. We are also the only company that requires each guide to complete an EMR certification as well as a Swiftwater Rescue class. This enables us to confidently do things on the water other companies can't and take guests that other companies won't.

OAR - Exceptional Guides and Staff - Team Building Opportunities

I have been the lead coordinator for our overnight camping and Middle Ocoee White Water trip for our youth group at Woodmont Christian Church located in Nashville, TN. for 8 years ! We arrive on early Saturday afternoon each year, set up camp, do the low ropes course that helps with our yout team building efforts, cook out then run the Middle Ocoee on Sunday mornings. OAR is an EXCEPTIONAL operator with some of the best guides on the river. I am a white water kayaker so have some knowledge of what it takes to be safe, while at the same time be a good river guide down the Ocoee River (a very technical river to navigate). I would highly recommend OAR.

    BE AGGRESSIVE! 😬

It was a great experience...until it wasn't. The median age of our group of 7 was about 45. Just before the second to last rapid, we were asked if we wanted to finish conservatively or aggressively. We shouted, "BE AGREESSIVE!" I'm not sure if it was intentional for the aggressive ending but the next thing I knew, our raft flipped over and I was underwater! I drifted off to the edge of the river. Everyone in other rafts were yelling to me to swim to the middle but swimming got me nowhere. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts at grabbing oars from other rafts, I finally was able to hold on to an oar upon the third attempt and that raft got me safely to my raft ahead. A little more excitement than I wanted but a very nice experience.

This was our first time on the Ocoee. We had a blast. Our guide , Stan, was great. Very knowledgeable, professional and funny! He really knew the waters and made it fun and exciting! Lunch at Eden’s after! Great food- smash burger and terrific Reuben spring rolls. I looked forward to our next adventure with you guys!

Middle Ocoee Whitewater Rafting: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Chattanooga.

How much does Middle Ocoee Whitewater Rafting cost?

    +

Prices start at $54 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Chattanooga usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Middle Ocoee Whitewater Rafting take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Chattanooga is not rushed.

Is Middle Ocoee Whitewater Rafting worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 89 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 180 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Chattanooga, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Middle Ocoee Whitewater Rafting?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Middle Ocoee Whitewater Rafting suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Middle Ocoee Whitewater Rafting?

    +

Around 63 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Chattanooga can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Chattanooga and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Middle Ocoee Whitewater Rafting start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Chattanooga within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Chattanooga?

    +

Chattanooga sells Lookout Mountain packages with Ruby Falls and Rock City, incline railway rides, Civil War battlefield tours, river cruises and caving trips. On Outty we rank every Chattanooga experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ocoee River Middle Whitewater Rafting Trip (Most Popular Tour), Middle Ocoee River Rafting Adventure Tour, Classic Middle Ocoee River Adventure. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Chattanooga?

    +

April to June and September to November. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Chattanooga?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
