About this experience
Spend an afternoon with our certified guides and enjoy the majestic scenery of Kealakekua Bay while learning about its rich history and cultural importance. We kayak the Bay from the Pier at Napoo’poo landing across the the protected shore of Ka’awaloa where we spend our time leisurely snorkeling above beautiful coral heads and a drop off that plunges to almost 250?. We’ll enjoy a light snack and some drinks on shore and share stories from Captain Cooks visits to the island while visiting his monument. The paddle back always seems to end too soon and before you know it we’re back at the pier where the tour wraps up.

So good we went back & did it a 2nd time!
We went on this Kayak/Snorkel tour of Kealakekua Bay with Kona Boys years ago & loved it so much that we went again on this trip and took our kids with us. It's seriously one of the very best experiences we've had on the Big Island & the best snorkeling we've done anywhere so far. We were given a warm welcome & great instruction before heading down to the bay. At the bay, Evan was our guide...and he was excellent! He was friendly, gave great instruction, and made us all feel comfortable. Don't miss this one...and definitely book it with the Kona Boys...they are the BEST!

This was an incredible...
This was an incredible experience. We were just in a group of 4, so we add plenty of time for snorkelling and to hear stories about the Hawaiian fauna and stories !! I really recommend
Response from the operator: We appreciate you taking time to share your review and stoked that you enjoyed the experience. Mahalo Nui!

Fun and educational guided experience!
Great experience! This was a highlight of our trip. Went with my husband and 4 friends, and we all had a great time. There were 6 other people on our tour, so 12 guests total, plus a main guide and an assistant. Evan was a great guide, providing thoughtful and interesting information and fantastic storytelling. Definitely recommend!

Awesome afternoon in the bay
The entire process from booking, pre-tour instructions, check-in and the tour itself was excellent. Our orientation was great and the tour itself was fantastic! Our guide Evan was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and awesome!
Response from the operator: Mahalo for the great review. We love sharing Kealakekua Bay with our guests and it means the world to hear that you enjoyed the experience. Mahalo Nui.

Kona Boys made it a delightful kayak and snorkel.
We booked with Kona Boys for the second time in a row. Frank at the store and Grant (this year) and Bam (two years ago) have a consummate in depth knowledge of Hawaii and Kealakekua. They conduct a superb adventure, getting everyone to the Captain Cook monument area for a fantastic snorkel adventure. Don’t pass it up.
Response from the operator: Mahalo the the continued support and taking the time to share a review. We loved seeing you again and hope it's not the last time. Mahalo Nui!

Why this scores 78
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Midday Meander - Kealakekua Bay Kayak and Snorkel Adventure: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Big Island of Hawaii.
How much does Midday Meander - Kealakekua Bay Kayak and Snorkel Adventure cost?
+
Prices start at $135 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Big Island of Hawaii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Midday Meander - Kealakekua Bay Kayak and Snorkel Adventure take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Big Island of Hawaii is not rushed.
Is Midday Meander - Kealakekua Bay Kayak and Snorkel Adventure worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 78 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 86 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Big Island of Hawaii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Midday Meander - Kealakekua Bay Kayak and Snorkel Adventure?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Midday Meander - Kealakekua Bay Kayak and Snorkel Adventure suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Midday Meander - Kealakekua Bay Kayak and Snorkel Adventure?
+
Around 30 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Big Island of Hawaii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Big Island of Hawaii and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Midday Meander - Kealakekua Bay Kayak and Snorkel Adventure start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Big Island of Hawaii within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Big Island of Hawaii?
+
The Big Island is volcano country: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park tours, Mauna Kea summit stargazing, night manta ray snorkels off Kona, Waipio Valley lookouts and coffee farm visits. Summit tours have real altitude rules, so we weight safety detail. On Outty we rank every Big Island of Hawaii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include KONA Manta Ray Night Snorkel - FREE re-ride if no Sightings, Big Island: Captain Cook Snorkel On A Power Catamaran With Lunch, Big Island in a Day: Volcanoes Waterfalls Sightseeing and History. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Big Island of Hawaii?
+
April to October, though the island runs year round. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Big Island of Hawaii?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
