Great experience!
Everything about the class was fabulous! Our chef and tour guide, Pamela (Pame) was so warm, inviting and knowledgeable. Her love of food and Mexico shines through. We prepared 3 tacos, from making the salsa, to cooking the protein and hand making the tortillas. We had a small group so there was lots for everyone to do!

“Highlight of Our Trip to Mexico City!”
It’s hard to fully capture how special our experience at Aura Cocina Mexicana was. From the moment you arrive, the space impresses you with its beautiful décor and thoughtful attention to detail. The staff is incredibly kind and welcoming, immediately making you feel at ease. We booked the experience that included a visit to the Coyoacán Market, and it exceeded all expectations. The market itself is vibrant and full of life, but exploring it with a knowledgeable guide made it even more meaningful. We enjoyed some of the most delicious quesadillas and fresh fruit before heading back to the kitchen. The cooking portion was the highlight—interactive, educational, and so much fun. We learned how to use chiles properly, prepare traditional sauces, work with meats and tortillas, and even make an incredible Jamaica margarita. Aura Cocina Mexicana is more than just a cooking class—it’s a full cultural and culinary experience. Thank you, Chef Lorena, for helping us create such wonderful memories. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone visiting Mexico City and can’t wait to go back!

Must Do Cooking Experience in Mexico City
The Street Tacos Cooking Class at Aura Cocina Mexicana is an absolute must. From the moment we arrived, Chef Lorena made us feel completely at home. She is warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate about sharing the traditions of Mexican cuisine. What makes this class special is her attention to detail—she doesn’t just show you how to cook, she explains the history, ingredients, and techniques that make authentic street tacos so special. The class was hands-on, fun, and incredibly delicious. We learned how to prepare different elements step by step, from fresh salsas to perfectly seasoned fillings, all while enjoying great conversation and a relaxed atmosphere. Lorena is not only a fantastic teacher but also a wonderful hostess who makes sure everyone feels included and confident in the kitchen. It was also the perfect place to celebrate a special moment—during our class we celebrated a birthday for one of our friends, and it made the experience even more memorable. Sharing laughs, cooking together, and enjoying the tacos we made turned it into such a joyful celebration. By the end, we were sitting together enjoying the tacos we prepared, which honestly tasted like something from the best taco stands in Mexico City. If you love Mexican food, cooking, or simply want a unique cultural experience while visiting Mexico City, this class is a highlight you shouldn’t miss. Highly recommend!

Why this scores 65
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Mexican Street Tacos Hands-on Cooking Class and Market Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mexico City.
How much does Mexican Street Tacos Hands-on Cooking Class and Market Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $1699 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mexico City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Mexican Street Tacos Hands-on Cooking Class and Market Tour take?
+
Plan for about 4.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mexico City is not rushed.
Is Mexican Street Tacos Hands-on Cooking Class and Market Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 40 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Mexico City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Mexican Street Tacos Hands-on Cooking Class and Market Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Mexican Street Tacos Hands-on Cooking Class and Market Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 12. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 4.5-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Mexican Street Tacos Hands-on Cooking Class and Market Tour?
+
Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mexico City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mexico City and add a light layer if any part of the 4.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Mexican Street Tacos Hands-on Cooking Class and Market Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mexico City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Mexico City?
+
On Outty we rank every Mexico City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Frida Kahlo VIP [Museum Tickets Included] Walk, Markets & Churros, Local Foodie Adventure CDMX: Tacos & more with Sherpa Food Tours, Mexico City Historical Centre Food Tour with 7 Tastings & Drinks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Mexico City?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Mexico City?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
