Vendor Never Showed
Instructions were limited, but we were at the designated location about 30 minutes early. Sadly, the vendor not only never showed, they never communicated with us at all, including no response to my messages that day asking for further directions. The Millpond is beautiful, but unfortunately based on our experience, we would recommend renting canoes from the park and doing a self-guided paddle!
Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry there was confusion surrounding your reservation and that the experience did not go as either of us would have wanted. For some additional context, two separate reservations were made—one on July 3 and another on July 27—and the original reservation was later canceled. Unfortunately, when we saw the cancellation, we did not realize that a second booking was still active. We apologize for that oversight and the confusion it caused. We do want to clarify that our staff was on-site that day. We operate the entire park, and we had a guide available. Once we became aware of the situation, we offered to still take you out on the guided tour. Because our system showed the reservation we were working from as canceled, we explained that the tour would need to be rebooked. You chose not to do so, which we certainly respect. We take responsibility for not catching the duplicate reservation and wish we had been able to connect with you sooner that day. We’re glad you were still able to enjoy the beauty of the Millpond.

Loved the whole experience!
What a blast! Merritt’s Mill Pond was more than beautiful, and Sam, our guide, was awesome! He was fun, low key, and made the morning such fun!

Merritts Mill Kayak Adventure
We had a great experience with our guide, he was very informative regarding the area and the springs. He was very patient with us and with the kids wanting to explore and swim. He went at our pace and we never felt rushed to get to the next area. Definitely would do this tour again! We had the option of paddleboards or kayak and opted for double seat kayak due to the kids. They did great and really enjoyed the experience. Snorkling gear was provided as well. After our experience we visited the Spring and enjoyed snowcones and boiled peanuts from the Concession stand. There is plenty of room to swim with docks, a slide and diving board. There is also a sandy beach, picnic tables, pavilions and benches.

Why this scores 67
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Merritts Mill Pond Eco Adventure: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Destin.
How much does Merritts Mill Pond Eco Adventure cost?
+
Prices start at $65 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Destin usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Merritts Mill Pond Eco Adventure take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Destin is not rushed.
Is Merritts Mill Pond Eco Adventure worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 12 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Destin, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Merritts Mill Pond Eco Adventure?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Merritts Mill Pond Eco Adventure suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Merritts Mill Pond Eco Adventure?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Destin can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Destin and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Merritts Mill Pond Eco Adventure start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Destin within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Destin?
+
Destin sells time on the water: pontoon and catamaran charters out of the harbour, dolphin cruises through Choctawhatchee Bay, snorkel trips to Crab Island and deep-sea fishing that leaves before sunrise. On Outty we rank every Destin experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Clear Kayaking Eco Adventure Tour in Marianna, Sunset Dolphin Cruise, Top Shelf Tikis Crab Island Adventure 3 hr. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Destin?
+
March to May and September to October, when Gulf water is warm and crowds thin. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Destin?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
