    Burana Tower Trip

It was my last day in Bishkek, and I’m so glad I chose this trip to Burana Tower. I was worried that I wouldn’t make it back to the city in time for my flight, but they managed to arrange everything on short notice, which I really appreciated. My tour guide was Farukh. He was very friendly, helpful, and informative. Although it was a long drive, he explained many interesting things about what we saw along the way and about Kyrgyzstan in general. At Burana Tower, he gave detailed explanations about the history and also guided me inside the museum. I highly recommend him. We ended the trip with a late lunch at one of the famous restaurants in the city, Faiza Restaurant, where I had lagman — it was super delicious! Thank you, Datka Travel, for such a wonderful day in Kyrgyzstan.

Memorable For All The Wrong Reasons

There seemed to be a lot of promise at the beginning with good communication with Talgat, the owner. However, the tour itself failed miserably. The car that showed up at our hotel was dirty, had a cracked windshield on the driver side and a torn back seat on the driver side, so that I sat up front and my wife sat on the back passenger side. Worse than that was our driver/guide, who was far more of the former and little of the latter. When he was not texting while driving the whole time, or talking about cars, he had virtually no information to provide us. As but one example, at Burana Tower he left us in the small museum to fend for ourselves. Fortunately, there was a woman in charge who took us around the museum. All he wanted to do was fly a drone from the top of the tower and seemed frustrated that due to my acrophobia (which kicks in when it kicks in) I determined that the climb to the top was going to be too stressful for me to attempt. Time management was yet another serious problem. We began at Burana Tower, so had the long drive from Bishkek in the morning, which made sense to do the hard part first. But the driver took hours driving back to Bishkek through the mountains. That would have been fine if our tour was a Burana Tower/Countryside Tour ... but it was not. We did not get back to Bishkek until the middle of the afternoon and after lunch at a dodgy local restaurant (where my wife got good poisoning) we didn't even get to the White House (the center of the city) until after 5 pm. At 6 pm we declared the tour over, not having seen several of the promised sites from the itinerary. We had intended to use Datka Travel for a tour in Almaty and we cancelled that, booking with a different tour company. (And my wife was still recovering from the food poisoning, so she didn't even make the Almaty tour, ruining another tour day.) At the end, I gave Talgat a rather diplomatic summary of how the day went and he really was not understanding of the seriousness of how things went down. We cannot recommend Datka - the worst of the three local tour companies we used during our trip to Central Asia.

    Burana Tower & Waterfall

Not the exact tour I went on, I swapped the Biskek city tour for a waterfall in the mountains and it was the best decision ever. My guide and I connected really well and had the absolute best of times during the long car rides.

Medieval Burana Tower and Bishkek city tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bishkek.

How much does Medieval Burana Tower and Bishkek city tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $93 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bishkek usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Medieval Burana Tower and Bishkek city tour take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bishkek is not rushed.

Is Medieval Burana Tower and Bishkek city tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 16 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Bishkek, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Medieval Burana Tower and Bishkek city tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Medieval Burana Tower and Bishkek city tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Medieval Burana Tower and Bishkek city tour?

    +

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bishkek can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bishkek and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Medieval Burana Tower and Bishkek city tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bishkek within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Bishkek?

    +

On Outty we rank every Bishkek experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include All-Inclusive Day Trip: Burana, Canyons & Issyk Kul with Pickup, Ala Archa Nature Park Essential Half Day Tour, 2-Day Issyk Kul Small Group Tour with Yurt Stay and Eagle Show. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Bishkek?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Bishkek?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
