The Matsumoto Everything tour is definitely worth taking.

A fantastic tour. All the places to visit were interesting and definitely worth visiting. The pacing was well done. Masa got us into the Matsumoto castle before the crowds. The miso factory included lunch where we got to enjoy traditionally crafted 3 year old miso. Delicious but a rarity. The wasabi farm is the largest in Japan at the foot of the Japanese Alps so the setting was beautiful. The winery grew grapes we’re familiar with in California which I enjoyed more than the Yamanashi varietals (but that’s just me). And ukiyo-e museum was another must see. We missed the Hokusai museum in Obuse so we’re glad to be able to visit this one. Masa was a great guide, very informative and spoke excellent English.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We’re very happy to hear that you enjoyed the full Matsumoto experience — from entering Matsumoto Castle before the crowds, to tasting traditionally crafted three-year miso, visiting Daio Wasabi Farm, enjoying the winery, and exploring the ukiyo-e museum. It was a real pleasure guiding you, and we’re especially glad that the pacing felt comfortable and that each stop was meaningful. Thank you again for joining o8Experience and for sharing such thoughtful feedback.

    Awesome day in Matsumoto!

Masa-san and Mr. Imamura were fantastic hosts, interpreters and ambassadors . They were kind, thoughtful, accommodating, and insightful at every point of interest and throughout the day. We couldn’t have asked for better or more professional guides. They represent the best of what makes Japan such a special and memorable place to visit: its people. We wanted to hit all of the highlights of Matsumoto (castle, wasabi farm, miso making) and this tour did all of that and more (wine tasting and wood block print museum). Although we covered a ton of territory, we never felt rushed, perfect timing and pace. Highly recommend this tour and it’s guide Masa!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We are truly grateful for your kind words about Masa and Mr. Imamura. It means a great deal to hear that you felt well looked after throughout the day, and that the tour was not only enjoyable but also smooth, thoughtful, and well paced. Matsumoto has so much to offer, so we are especially happy to know that the experience allowed you to enjoy the area’s key highlights—from the castle, wasabi farm, and miso culture to the wine tasting and ukiyo-e museum—without ever feeling rushed. Your generous comments about the people of Japan are especially meaningful to us. We are honored to have been part of your visit and to have helped make your time here memorable. Thank you again for choosing o8Experience. We hope to welcome you back to Nagano and Matsumoto someday. Warm regards, Team o8Experience

    Full day in Mastumoto

Masa was very accommodating. We brought our luggage with us from Nagano and he was able to get us to Matsumoto station for our next train to Tokyo. The castle was beautiful with sakura in April. Masa was very knowledgeable about the city and gave us plenty of time to explore. The weather was somewhat limiting but we enjoyed a part of Japan that few will experience without local knowledge. Thank you Masa!

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for your kind review. We are very happy to hear you enjoyed Matsumoto, the castle in sakura season, and your time exploring the city. We are also glad we could help make your transfer to Matsumoto Station smooth and convenient. Thank you again for joining o8Experience. We truly appreciate your warm words.

Matsumoto Everything Tour: Castle, Miso, Wasabi, Wine & Ukiyo-e: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Nagano.

How much does Matsumoto Everything Tour: Castle, Miso, Wasabi, Wine & Ukiyo-e cost?

    +

Prices start at $198 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Nagano usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Matsumoto Everything Tour: Castle, Miso, Wasabi, Wine & Ukiyo-e take?

    +

Plan for about 6.3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Nagano is not rushed.

Is Matsumoto Everything Tour: Castle, Miso, Wasabi, Wine & Ukiyo-e worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Nagano, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Matsumoto Everything Tour: Castle, Miso, Wasabi, Wine & Ukiyo-e?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Matsumoto Everything Tour: Castle, Miso, Wasabi, Wine & Ukiyo-e suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6.3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Matsumoto Everything Tour: Castle, Miso, Wasabi, Wine & Ukiyo-e?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Nagano can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Nagano and add a light layer if any part of the 6.3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Matsumoto Everything Tour: Castle, Miso, Wasabi, Wine & Ukiyo-e start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Nagano within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Nagano?

    +

On Outty we rank every Nagano experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include 1-Day Tour from Nagano and Matsumoto Kamikochi & Matsumoto Castle, 1-Day Snow Monkeys, Zenko-ji Temple & Sake in Nagano, Izakaya Food Tour in Nagano. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Nagano?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Nagano?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
