An amazing way to experience the highlights of Rome in an evening

Our Sunday evening tour turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences of our time in the city. My wife and I explored Rome by car at night with our guide, Ahmed, taking in many of the city’s most iconic outdoor landmarks beautifully illuminated after dark—from the Colosseum to the Trevi Fountain and Pantheon. What made the experience stand out wasn’t just the convenience and beauty of seeing Rome at night, but Ahmed himself. He was playful, engaging, and clearly passionate about the city. Rather than overwhelming us with a flood of dates and names, he layered the history in a way that felt natural and compelling, giving us meaningful insight into the many eras that have shaped Rome. In just a couple of hours, he managed to provide a rich, thoughtful overview of the city—something that felt both efficient and deeply immersive. It served as the perfect orientation, helping us identify the places we wanted to return to and explore more fully at our own pace. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a unique and engaging introduction to Rome. It’s an ideal way to get your bearings while also experiencing the magic of the city at night.

    Horrific

This is unbelievable, that a guide would tell to leave your purse in the car. Say he’s locking the car, 7 minutes later at the car, no broken windows and 2 purses are gone. We exited each from our own doors. I placed my jacket over the 2 purses in the middle of the seat. My passport, credit card, and monies were all stolen. The owner, who we were told has insurance to cover this. Insisted that we lost our own purses. And would do nothing to help. The driver Mohammed did not lock the car. He is inexperienced, and did not take responsibility for his actions…DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Again DO DOT USE THIS COMPANY

Response from the operator: It's really sad for us to hear your claims which got nothing to do with the facts. it was our guide who took you to the police station to file the report and told you to ask the police for the registration of the video surveillance camera that was close to where he parked the car and you told our guide that’s fine it’s not his fault as you have seen the car was locked and that most probably that you have lost your purse. a week after you called us and want us to talk to an Italian relative of yours who threaten us and talk in a discriminative way that we had to end the call. right after that you sent us an email asking for a reimburse because you think it was our guide fault as he did not lock the car, the guide assured us that the car was locked and it is most probably that you have lost your purse, it could have slipped form you as you taking pictures or anything else. and despite the fact that we don’t think it’s our guide fault and despite the fact that we were quite upset with the threatening and discriminative way your relative had spoke to us, we replied to you saying that we have a legal coverage for our company and that we pay our lawyer 300 euro in case he have to respond in any case, we told you instead of going on a law suit we can pay you this amount and we end the issue, or otherwise if this is not fine for you, you can send us a copy of the police report you filed, we will give it to our lawyer and he would reply to you in case you want to sue us for this, till this moment we didn’t receive any reply for our email either you accept our offer or to send us a copy of the police report you made, instead you decide to write a feedback full of false claims throwing all kind of things on us trying to ruin our image and reputation.

DO NOT USE THIS TOUR GROUP. SCAMMERS.

Terrible experience. Tour guide urged us ro leave our hand bags in rhe van and assured he was locking the van. (We had been previously taking our bag with is when we got out of the van being experienced travellers) . At the Spamish Step when we got back in rhe van our handbags were GONE. STOLEN. Either 1) The inexperienced guide - he admitted he was only four months on job - was EXTREMELY NEGLIGENT and failed to make sure car was locked or 2) He was in on the SCAM. He told us he had insurance and when we contacted Assam who claims to be the owner of the company (it sounds like someone is answering a personal cell when you call) he basically laughed and said “to bad so sad you list your purse’. We were out cash, had to change credit cards and my travelling companion had her passport stolen resulting in thousands of dollars!!! A police report was filed with the Carabineri and an investigation is ongoing against MUHAMMed the tour guide who knows mothing about Roman history.

A cool way to see Roma

I didn't think about seeing Rome at night until I saw this tour offered, and I'm so glad it was. We've been to Rome a couple times and had random views at night, but this tailored tour for night scenes was surprisingly enjoyable. There is always more to learn about Rome, and our driver and guide, Mohamed, did not disappoint. Do not let his name fool you; he is very Roman. He has owned and operated a restaurant here until recently, so he knows his city! The van was very comfortable and Mohamed is a skilled driver (you have to be to drive in Rome!). He took us to all the obvious venues, but then took us to a "secret keyhole" in an embassy door someplace to peer through and see the dome of St.Peter's Basilica framed in glowing lights; very cool and fun. We recommend this tour to experience Rome from a different perspective.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your great feedback, we're happy to know that you've enjoyed it!

Marvels Of Rome At Night - Private Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.

How much does Marvels Of Rome At Night - Private Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $4 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Marvels Of Rome At Night - Private Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.

Is Marvels Of Rome At Night - Private Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 27 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Marvels Of Rome At Night - Private Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Marvels Of Rome At Night - Private Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Marvels Of Rome At Night - Private Tour?

    +

Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Marvels Of Rome At Night - Private Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Rome?

    +

Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Rome?

    +

April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Rome?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
