Family friendly Mexican cooking class

Great experience! Margarita was so welcoming. She was great with our young children, and included them in the meal prep. The market tour was informative, the recipes were at a good complexity level, and the food was great. Highly recommended

Exquisite Meal and Conversation

My family and I will always remember our evening with Margarita. She is engaging and very kind, and she tailored the meal and experience for us. We will be able to follow the recipes at home and hopefully have exquisite meals like the one we had at her beautiful home. This was a highlight of our time in CDMX.

Market Tour and Home Cooking Class in Mexico City with Margarita

The Market tour and cooking class with Margarita was an absolute amazing experience, Enjoyable, educational & fun and the food was absolutely delicious. Margarita was very knowledgeable and the market tour was very informative and interesting. She explains all the different ingredients used in Mexican.m cuisine. Including vegetables, spices, herbs ,etc. Margarita was also very kind and we felt like we knew her for years and she opened up her home to us and she was very warm and it felt very welcoming. Her recipes were very good but not to complex and I know that I will be able to make these recipes when I go home with my family and will be able to find the ingredients. She explained all the step and all the ingredients thoroughly .Enjoyed cooking with her and sharing a meal together .

Fantastic Cooking Class with Lovely Hostess

My husband and I spent a wonderful afternoon and evening with Margarita. She welcomed us into her beautiful home and made us feel like family. Our trip with her to the market in San Angel made us feel like locals! She explained all of the various peppers and moles and the important differences in flavour and preparation. Margarita is an excellent host and chef and taught us how to prepare several dishes in a way that we can replicate at home. Everything we made was fantastic, but my favourite were the Sopas with huitlacocche. The only thing I regret is not going earlier to spend some time walking around the lovely neighbourhood. We highly recommend this experience with Margarita when you are in Mexico city, you won't be disappointed!

Lovely host, wonderful experience

Margarita hosted cooking class in her beautiful home which was in a very charming neighborhood. Started out with a trip to the market where we were educated on different mole powders and pastes, herbs and fruits. We even got to sample the produce. Afterwards it was hands-on preparation of our meal of sopes, chicken mole with rice followed by a guava dessert. It was a great experience, very personally catered and it was like having dinner in a good friend’s home.

Market Tour and Home Cooking Class in Mexico City with Margarita: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mexico City.

How much does Market Tour and Home Cooking Class in Mexico City with Margarita cost?

+

Prices start at $79 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mexico City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Market Tour and Home Cooking Class in Mexico City with Margarita take?

+

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mexico City is not rushed.

Is Market Tour and Home Cooking Class in Mexico City with Margarita worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 79 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 41 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Mexico City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Market Tour and Home Cooking Class in Mexico City with Margarita?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Market Tour and Home Cooking Class in Mexico City with Margarita suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Market Tour and Home Cooking Class in Mexico City with Margarita?

+

Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mexico City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mexico City and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Market Tour and Home Cooking Class in Mexico City with Margarita start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mexico City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Mexico City?

+

On Outty we rank every Mexico City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Frida Kahlo VIP [Museum Tickets Included] Walk, Markets & Churros, Local Foodie Adventure CDMX: Tacos & more with Sherpa Food Tours, Mexico City Historical Centre Food Tour with 7 Tastings & Drinks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Mexico City?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Mexico City?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
