    Best kayak tour in Homosassa!!

This is our second kayak tour with Drake and it was even better than the first! He is such a knowledgeable guy, and shares so much interesting information and stories. We were a group of 5 ladies of a “certain age” (read over 60!) and he was so accommodating to our needs. His tour is not a canned presentation, which is exactly what we wanted!

A once in a lifetime excursion

This was an incredible boat trip! Drake was the best guide you could ask for. He is a local and knows all the spots to hit to see wildlife. We saw manatees, alligators, sea turtles, bald eagles, ospreys, and more. Drake was so accommodating and called me the day before to make sure our outing was designed so that the kids would have an amazing time. Book with Drake- you will not regret it!

    Peaceful Kayak Trip With Wildlife

Drake was such a great guide! We saw lots of Eagles and other birds as well as snook and other fish in the water. Made is a but further down the river and saw the habitat transition to more brackish water which was really cool! The Chassahowitska River was so special as it hasn’t been dredged by the Army Corps of Engineers and so not as touched by development, so rare for Florida! We started at 8 am which I highly recommend because the River was much busier when we were returning. Drake had lots of great information about the river and its ecosystems. I am excited to return to this area and hopefully go on another guided experience with this company.

    Guide was amazing!

Mr. Banks was friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable. Didn't see any manatee. They have already started migrating south. But the kayak trip was so peaceful and pretty. There are plenty of birds to watch. The mosquitoes and no-see-ums are out, so wear bug spray.

Manatee Kayak Encounter: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Crystal River.

How much does Manatee Kayak Encounter cost?

    +

Prices start at $65 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Crystal River usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Manatee Kayak Encounter take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Crystal River is not rushed.

Is Manatee Kayak Encounter worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 25 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Crystal River, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Manatee Kayak Encounter?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Manatee Kayak Encounter suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Manatee Kayak Encounter?

    +

Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Crystal River can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Crystal River and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Manatee Kayak Encounter start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Crystal River within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Crystal River?

    +

Crystal River is the one place in Florida with permitted in-water manatee tours: early-morning snorkel trips into Three Sisters Springs, scalloping in summer and spring-fed kayak paddles. On Outty we rank every Crystal River experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include 3 Hour Small Group All Inclusive Manatee Swim with free Photo pkg, Guided Small Group Manatee Snorkeling Tour with In-Water Photographer, Most Popular 3hr Manatee Swim Tour + In-Water Guide!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Crystal River?

    +

November to March for manatee season, July to September for scalloping. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Crystal River?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
