Best experience I've had in Italy
One of the best things I did in Florence, hands down. I always get nervous with cooking classes and tours because I want to learn the culture and the language, but I don't want to get grouped in with the everyday tourist, and then I stumbled across Mama Florence and got blown away. The market tour with Yenna was nothing short of incredible. We went to the Central Market and it was ... phenomenal. We had an intimate group and as the tour began, she was so warm, wildly knowledgeable, and effusive that it had us all chatting and asking questions almost immediately. It felt more like a group of friends touring Florence than strangers and a tour guide. Not to mention glimpsing the history of such a historic market was extraordinary to witness. And the cooking class itself? A whole other level - our Chef's name was Giacomo and he was perhaps the brightest, most hysterical ray of italian sunshine I have ever met (I don't know where Mama is finding its staff, but they have to be some of the best people in Italy). I was in a group with two other couples, and originally I was nervous about cooking with strangers, but it might have been one of the most fun experiences I've ever had. Between Giaco walking us through how to make pasta, the sauce, the chopping of garlic, apples, pecorino or shucking kale, I slowly learned not only about the recipes, their tradition, and more about what Italian food really is - but about my new friends too, and where they came from, and what their stories were. I could honestly go on and on. The table at the end was my favorite part, when we all gathered, got to eat our pasta, salad and meatballs (not to mention the local wine was fruity and delightful). The booking process was easy to navigate, I reached out in the beginning and they were timely, friendly, and so helpful. Cannot recommend Mama Florence enough. One of the genuinely best experiences I've had in Italy. If you're looking for something authentic that feels like a home away from home, this is the way to go. Hands down.
Response from the operator: What an incredible review—thank you for sharing your experience in such thoughtful detail! We’re thrilled that Yenna made the Central Market feel so welcoming, personal, and full of Florentine culture. We’ll also make sure Giacomo hears your wonderful description of him as a “ray of Italian sunshine”—it captures his warmth perfectly! Creating genuine connections through food is at the heart of Mama Florence. Our professional chefs love introducing guests to Italian culinary traditions using carefully selected, sustainable ingredients while making everyone feel at home around the table. Since 2013, we’ve welcomed guests into our historic venue, once a gastronomia dating back to 1890, and it means so much to know that your experience felt authentic rather than simply touristy. Thank you for recognizing the care of our entire team, from booking to the market tour and cooking class. We hope to welcome you home to Mama Florence again!

MaMa Florence Guided Market Tour and 4 Course-Pasta Cooking Class: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Florence.
How much does MaMa Florence Guided Market Tour and 4 Course-Pasta Cooking Class cost?
+
Prices start at $175 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Florence usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does MaMa Florence Guided Market Tour and 4 Course-Pasta Cooking Class take?
+
Plan for about 4.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Florence is not rushed.
Is MaMa Florence Guided Market Tour and 4 Course-Pasta Cooking Class worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 22 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Florence, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule MaMa Florence Guided Market Tour and 4 Course-Pasta Cooking Class?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is MaMa Florence Guided Market Tour and 4 Course-Pasta Cooking Class suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book MaMa Florence Guided Market Tour and 4 Course-Pasta Cooking Class?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Florence can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Florence and add a light layer if any part of the 4.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does MaMa Florence Guided Market Tour and 4 Course-Pasta Cooking Class start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Florence within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Florence?
+
On Outty we rank every Florence experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Best tour in Florence: Renaissance & Medici Tales - guided by a STORYTELLER, Florence Pizza or Pasta Class & Gelato Making at a Tuscan Farm, Small group Tuscan Wineries, Olive Oil & Gourmet Lunch or Dinner. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Florence?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Florence?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
