We had a great cooking class! My mom and I loved learning how to make vegetarian laksa, and Fizah told us a lot about Malaysia's food and cooking culture. Delicious food, and great cats as well :)

Three musketeers in Malaysia
Me and my friends absolutely loved this experience. It was a great start to our trip to Malaysia, it was our first visit and Fiza introduced us to the cuisine with fun and flavour. She’s authentic and really makes it enjoyable. We learned so much and had a great afternoon. I would highly recommend this if you are a foodie. Thanks again, Fiza. Misty, Ninon and Nicole Xxx

This was one of our...
This was one of our favorite experiences in Kuala Lumpur! Fiza was incredibly sweet, personable, and friendly throughout the entire class. She made us feel so welcome and comfortable, and it was really special that she opened her beautiful home to us for such an authentic experience. We had so much fun learning to make Nasi Lemak and Kuih Ketayap from scratch. Everything was delicious, and Fiza was patient, knowledgeable, and happy to answer all of our questions along the way. It felt much more personal than a typical cooking class—we genuinely felt like we were guests in someone’s home rather than just participants in an activity. The food, hospitality, and warm atmosphere made this a highlight of our time in Kuala Lumpur. We would absolutely recommend Fiza’s cooking class to anyone looking for an authentic, intimate, and memorable Malaysian food experience!
Response from the operator: Hello Colton & Megan, It was such a great pleasure having you both in the class! We Malaysians always love to open our doors to our guests, treat them warmly, and make them feel welcome throughout the experience. It was wonderful having you both with us. I really hope you’ll recreate what you learned when you return home and bring a little taste of Malaysia with you. Again, thank you so much for your kind review. It truly means a lot to us. All the best from Malaysia, and we hope to see you both again next time! Regards, Fizah

Great family cooking experience
During a multi gen trip with my spouse, in laws and kids, we took this cooking class with Fizah. We prepared curry laksa (our choice out of 4 options given) as well as making Kuih Gula Melaka for dessert. This was a great activity to do together as a family; everyone was able to participate, even our elementary aged kids got in on chopping veggies and spices. It was a great way to learn more about the food culture. The food was delicious and I’m excited to try to recreate the meal when I return home. Would highly recommend this activity.
Response from the operator: Dear Lauren, It was such a pleasure having you and the family in the class. We had so much fun, especially with the kids! I really hope you’ll be able to recreate the experience soon and enjoy some of the little Malaysian treats I gave you. 😊 Take care, and all the best to you and your family. Thank you so much for your lovely review. It really means a lot to me! Warm regards, Fizah

10/10 Cooking class
We had a lot of fun in the cooking class with Fizah. She tought us how to cook Nasi Lemak and Mango Sticky rice. The food was great and she sent us the recipe so we can cook it at home. We had a great time with Fizah and learned a lot about Malay culture in our visit. 10/10 would recommend!
Response from the operator: Hello Julie, You both was amazing students; I really hope you going to replicated soon, and be able to find the ingredients in Switzerland. You both take care, and I wish you both the best. safe travel. and thank you so much, Fizah

Why this scores 78
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Malaysia Cooking Class With Local (Hands-On!): questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kuala Lumpur.
How much does Malaysia Cooking Class With Local (Hands-On!) cost?
+
Prices start at $60 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kuala Lumpur usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Malaysia Cooking Class With Local (Hands-On!) take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kuala Lumpur is not rushed.
Is Malaysia Cooking Class With Local (Hands-On!) worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 78 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 101 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Kuala Lumpur, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Malaysia Cooking Class With Local (Hands-On!)?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Malaysia Cooking Class With Local (Hands-On!) suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Malaysia Cooking Class With Local (Hands-On!)?
+
Around 35 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kuala Lumpur can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kuala Lumpur and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Malaysia Cooking Class With Local (Hands-On!) start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kuala Lumpur within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kuala Lumpur?
+
On Outty we rank every Kuala Lumpur experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sambal Streets Kuala Lumpur Food Tour with 15+ Tastings, Genting Highland & Batu Cave Guided Day Tour (SIC/Shared Tour), Private Half-Day Batu Caves and Cutural Tour in Kuala Lumpur. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kuala Lumpur?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kuala Lumpur?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
