Booking ref.: BR-1228030725 I recommend using another tour company. I booked this tour through Viator/Tripadvisor, but the actual tour provider was Stap Travel, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. I’ve traveled extensively in Mexico and around the world, and I understand that flexibility and a “go with the flow” attitude are important when taking tours. I was traveling with my elderly parents, and this was their first trip to Mérida. We were really looking forward to this tour despite having seen some negative reviews. I thought we’d be able to handle any minor inconveniences mentioned. We arrived at the designated pickup spot 30 minutes early, anticipating possible delays. Other reviewers noted the company tends to be late, but when 40 minutes had passed with no sign of the driver, I reached out to the tour operator via WhatsApp. They told me they had sent a notification earlier (which I never received) stating the pickup location had changed. I asked if they could wait a few minutes for my parents to walk over or, given we were just a couple of blocks away, if they could swing by to pick us up. They refused. They suggested rescheduling, but when I requested the next day, they said I would need to pay again, claiming we were “no-shows.” When I told them I would be contacting Viator/Tripadvisor, the operator responded with, “go ahead,” and repeatedly insisted it was my fault, taking no responsibility for the confusion. I was simply asking for a bit of flexibility, especially considering I was traveling with elderly parents. I truly expected more from a Viator tour, as I’ve had excellent experiences with many others I’ve booked through them. Unfortunately, the actual provider, Stap Travel, fell far short. Listen to this and the other reviews—there are much better options available.

In this case, a notification regarding the updated pickup point was sent in advance (using the contact information provided by Viator). We sincerely regret if this message was not received or seen in time. As stated in our policies and in the booking terms, it is the responsibility of the guest to arrive at the correct meeting point and be present at the scheduled time. Our team was at the updated location at the designated time, and after waiting the required period, we had to proceed with the tour to avoid disrupting the experience for other participants. When you contacted us, we did offer the option to reschedule, as we sometimes do when circumstances allow. However, since the "no-show" policy was applicable in this situation — due to not being present at the correct location and not being able to delay the group further — it was not possible to reschedule without a new payment, as operational costs for the service had already been incurred. We understand this may have been disappointing, but we must apply our policies consistently to ensure fairness and maintain quality service for all our guests. We appreciate your feedback and are sorry that this situation impacted your visit to Mérida. We will continue working to improve our communication and customer service processes.

Best way to see Everything!
This was by far the most efficient way to see everything. Even though there were many stops none of them felt rushed. This is the best way to cross many things off your must-do list. The guide was knowledgeable and funny. Overall it was a great experience.

Disappointing
Having been on several tours in the past few days, this has been our only disappointing one so far. Chichen Itza is obviously the highlight but the tour tries to do too much and fails to deliver. The stop in Valladolid at the end of the day was especially disappointing as the cathedral was already shut. The cenote was stopped at was dirty and rather tired and we were unable to use the swimming pool. Overall I would recommend planning your own tour to Chichen Itza which remains a must see for all visitors to the area.

Earlier pick up for winter
In my opinion, pick up should be earlier than 8:00am (in winter) to still have time to see Valladolid while still light. We arrived almost 5:30pm and couldn't see anything except for the plaza and the church, which was a shame as there's still much to see in this city. A few fellow travelers were even commenting on why we were there and there wasn't much to see or do.
