Roaming Istria
We have been staying near Motovun for 3 months in a stone Cain at Marissa’s wine estate and visiting castles, churches and nearby Slovenia. It has been superb, a great experience, food has been great too

2nd trip, still Awesome!!!
Our group of 6 did a 15-day private tour with Jakov - from Slovenia to Istria region of Croatia, go down south to Dubrovnik, Montenegrin, Mostar and finally back to Zagreb. It has been an awesome trip, excellent food and wine…Jakov is very experienced and look into all logistics details and is very passionate in sharing about his country and culture. He’s a guide you can rely on when you encounter unexpected situations during overseas travel. Big thanks to Jakov!!! Singapore Lah group Kim Boon & Jenny Tee Aun & Kat Boon & Siew Hong

Excellent value for money.
Touring with The guide only has advantages. I have travelled the world on my own. Once with an organised tour through Israel and Jordan, after which I decided never again. I did not 0like the strict programme, like attending a compulsory school tour, and the rudeness of the guide, who just listed facts, was stressful and not learningful. We immigrated to Croatia one year ago, and a guided tour was definitely not in our planning. We live here. However my husband and I, by chance, did a one day tour of Samabour and surrounding areas with Jakov, owner of The Guide. To my biggest surprise it was a joyful day during which we learned so much about our new homeland. After which we, and a friend, booked a five-day-Istrian tour. Jakov is sensitive to the needs of his clients. The information he gives, is given with insight and care. Never listing boring facts, but giving carefully selected historical, social and political information mixed with humour. He is also prepared to discuss his clients statements and questions. The pre planning was done excellently with sending concepts to us, discussing what type of accommodation would be suitable for us. Choosing Rovenji, as a base, from where we toured every day, was perfect. Some places was taken from the planning and adding others that could be of more interest to us, added As I am an artist, Groznjan, a mediaeval city and now a official artist community was added. I was highly surprised by the skillful etchings, and creative crafts, that I saw. In Motovan, apart from tasting truffles, Jakov explained the method of hunting truffles, the qualities of good truffles, as well as how the industry is being sustained for us. We visited the amphitheatre of Pula before, but with Jakov’s guidance realised that we actually only saw it and obtained a few facts. Now we could see it in context of the reasons for its existence, how it was used, and the functions it fulfilled in Roman society. Staying over in Krktown for our last evening was a beautiful ending to a very, very special experience. With careful calculations I also realised that it is cheaper doing it this way if your purpose is to learn about history, culture and nature. One visits so many more places in a short time, getting to enjoy and learn without the extra stress of making travelling arrangements and
Response from the operator: Dear Annaliese , so many thanks for your kind words. You know you have a friend to call anytime in Croatia, At your disposal Best Jakov

Why this scores 64
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Magical Istria: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Zagreb.
How much does Magical Istria cost?
+
Prices start at $272 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Zagreb usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Magical Istria take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Zagreb is not rushed.
Is Magical Istria worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Zagreb, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Magical Istria?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Magical Istria suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Magical Istria?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Zagreb can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Zagreb and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Magical Istria start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Zagreb within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Zagreb?
+
On Outty we rank every Zagreb experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Communism & Croatian Homeland War Tour, Zagreb Highlights: Old Town, WWII tunnels, Funicular & Tastings, Old Zagreb Private Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Zagreb?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Zagreb?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
