Unexpected experience

As a travel agent I know that unexpected events can happen. I have found myself in the situation to have to cancel or modify tours for my clients to ensure the best experience possible. So it seems like the organizer did not check the weather and maintained this all outside tour. The very beginning of the tour was fine. We were able to do part 1 and our guide was very nice and entertaining. The rest of the day was more difficult. Our boat broke down. The pilot was able to fix it rather rapidly. We then encountered a terrible hail storm. The only protection we had was the life vest. We ended with a few bruises. We were drenched and the inside of our backpacks were drenched as well. We had to finish the day with no dry clothes or towels ( and a 2 hour bus ride in cold A/C being wet is highly uncomfortable). The restaurant and the food was nice. Very typical and authentic. Good spot. The service I booked was for a pickup and drop-off at the hotel. A woman travelling alone with 3 teenage girls it is common sense for safety. I was told in the bus that the bus was not going to be able to drive us to our hotel. That they were gonna reserve a taxi for the end of the ride!! I find this very irresponsible to leave 1 woman and 3 teenage girls in the dark in a taxi. How to know how safe this is?!?! I took pictures of the guide, taxi license plate and send it to someone in case we were kidnapped. This was the scariest 15 minutes of my life. In spite of the weather and the fact they didn't modify or cancel the trip I would have 3 stars at least. But the end of the ride in a taxi was irresponsible and I am very upset to have been put in this situation.

Response from the operator: Bad weather can suddenly happen and it's out of everyones control. The weather was forecast to be good during the day, however, the sudden rain happened, it was nothing near a hailstorm (that does not happen in the south area of Mexico) The guides turned down the AC as soon as everyone got in. Due to your claims and complains the guides offered to get you directly to your hotel on a private taxi on payroll to avoid more waiting while other travelers were dropped off

Unfortunately not recommended

Unfortunately, it was a bit disorganized. We were taken to the large bus station in a shuttle van. At this point, it was already full and only a few seats were left. We were on the road for over 3 1/2 hours in total until we arrived at the unspectacular harbor at around 11 a.m. There we had to wait another 20 minutes until we got on the small speedboats. We then made 3 stops, at the cenote, Isla Passion and another one, each for around 40 minutes to take photos or swim. The beaches were covered in algae and the water was unfortunately not nice. We know it differently from Isla Contoy or the islands off Cuba. Then we had lunch at the 4th stop on Holbox in a restaurant. Unfortunately, around 3 p.m. it was also very spartan, with very loud music and also a bit chaotic. We then had time to explore Holbox until 5 p.m. Unfortunately, we didn't find it particularly nice there either. We then took the speedboats back to the harbor and got back on the bus. We were quite disappointed with the trip and were back at the hotel at around 8:30. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend the trip. The people there tried very hard, but the information in English was very sparse.

Response from the operator: Die Transportzeit wird in der Tourbeschreibung erläutert und veröffentlicht Um nach Holbox zu gelangen, ist eine lange Reisezeit erforderlich

Disappointing and misleading tour

The description on the page is inaccurate. There is no mention of 2h drive each way and it was definitely not a sailing tour as we were on a speed boat for 30 mins max each way.

Response from the operator: We are sorry that you didn't read correctly the content of the product. All experiences and tours that includes transportation will always have transportation time, this is displayed at the product too. There is no mention of any sailing boat anywhere in the product Asking for things that are not included in the product is not a genuine reason to ask for a refund, as you did We hope to welcome you again in a tour that you can enjoy

Fuego 🔥

I had the most amazing experience on this tour. The beaches were beautiful , the food was great and the people were so friendly. The guide was also amazing , personable and interactive. The booking agent was very also very helpful with answering all questions leading up to the tour. When I come back to Mexico I will definitely come back here and book with this tour provider!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing with us your adventure! we will be more than happy to welcome you again! There are a lot of adventures waiting for you in Mexico

Green water

This is truly an unspoiled place. Very pretty. Very remote. Reminds me a little of Progresso. Our tour guide Arki made everything fun for us. It’s a long day but nice if you’re looking for something different to do.

Response from the operator: We appreciate your comments, Holbox is a spectacular island. We wait for you soon.

Magic Island Holbox! Experience From Cancun & Playa del Carmen: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cancun.

How much does Magic Island Holbox! Experience From Cancun & Playa del Carmen cost?

+

Prices start at $154 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cancun usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Magic Island Holbox! Experience From Cancun & Playa del Carmen take?

+

Plan for about 13 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cancun is not rushed.

Is Magic Island Holbox! Experience From Cancun & Playa del Carmen worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 50 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cancun, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Magic Island Holbox! Experience From Cancun & Playa del Carmen?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Magic Island Holbox! Experience From Cancun & Playa del Carmen suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 13-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Magic Island Holbox! Experience From Cancun & Playa del Carmen?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cancun can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cancun and add a light layer if any part of the 13-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Magic Island Holbox! Experience From Cancun & Playa del Carmen start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cancun within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cancun?

+

On Outty we rank every Cancun experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Early Access to Chichen Itza All Inclusive with Valladolid and Cenote Swim, Whale Shark Tour from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Riviera Maya, Small-Group 3 Hidden Cenotes Adventure with Tequila Tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cancun?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cancun?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
